The Ski Is Blue
I note that you are a "thinker". I am assuming that you are of more of a science mind than of a "believing" mind. You likely follow logic where it takes you.
Ski writes:
I believe that white skin, blue eyes, and blonde hair originated in Africa from dark-skinned people interbreeding with albino people. I think the albino was regarded as a prize, maybe as a king queen or leader of a group. Their migration was mainly north to Scandinavia, staying together as a closed society with no more interbreeding with any dark skin people.
Interesting theory. What do our resident EvC "thinkers" think?
I have concluded that this is a scientific question. Welcome to EvC by the way.

Impatience Is Not A Virtue
It's a good thing you don't moderate at this place. You would make a horrible and biased moderator. Ski is a grizzled old atheist like you are, which you would discover had you the patience to stick around his topic long enough to listen.
Our apologies, Ski. This forum does have a heart, but we often fuss and feud like a huge dysfunctional family.
Feel free to ask me some hardline questions. I won't get mad at you like some *cough* members *cough* do. Be forewarned, however. I am one of those pesky believers, so I usually frequent the non-science side of the Forum.
Though they all insist on dragging their science and evidence over to the Faith & Belief side and attempting to dominate the issue. It never works, however, and allows for delightful if repetitive and longwinded discussions.

Why I am a political moderate
First of all, I am going to say I did a bit of research into Theodoric's source. The author has a lot of valid credibilities.
quote:
Caleb Johnson, the author and historian behind MayflowerHistory.com, graduated from Texas Tech University with two majors (history and English) and two minors (computer science and archaeology). He subsequently earned an MBA with an emphasis in IT Management. He has been researching and studying the Mayflower passengers for twenty-five years, and has authored and edited a number of books including the 1173-page reference tome, The Complete Works of the Mayflower Pilgrims (Vancouver, 2003); The Mayflower and Her Passengers (Xlibris, 2005); William Bradford's Of Plymouth Plantation (Xlibris, 2006), and his best-selling work--a biography of Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins entitled Here Shall I Die Ashore. Caleb has been interviewed and quoted by numerous publications, usually for Thanksgiving-related pieces, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Gannett News Service, and National Public Radio. His research has been used and cited by New York Times best-selling authors including Nathaniel Philbrick (Mayflower) and Nick Bunker (Making Haste from Babylon), and he assisted with the Sally Fields episode of PBS's "Finding Your Roots." Caleb edited the scholarly historical and genealogical journal, the Mayflower Descendant (first edited by George Ernest Bowman in 1899) from 2011-2014, and remains a contributing editor today. Caleb has been on the forefront of Mayflower genealogical research as it pertains to the English origins of the Mayflower passengers, discovering the English origins of Stephen Hopkins at Hursley, Hampshire (1998) and Peter Browne at Dorking, Surrey, England (2004). In 2017-2018, he collaborated with Sue Allan and Simon Neal to piece together the English origins of two more Mayflower passengers William and Susanna (Jackson) White, and the trio of researchers continues their research in English records.
That being said, I remain a moderate because I have personal issues with the collective attitudes of both ideologies. The Far Right is authoritarian and prejudiced at best. There is evidence of some racism within some members of this group...more than is there in the Left. That being said, I am no fan of the Left either. I saw how the EvC Left group dogpiles and sticks together, just as the accusations that Faith says about the political battles suggests.
Of course, I am generalizing, (this is an opinionated rant, to be clear) I was quite disappointed how our newest Forum Member was dissuaded from sticking around due to the egos involved here at EvC> You liberals think you own this place. I could boot out any dissident to your approval or close a topic that you deem unworthy, but I'm tired of the lot of you. Faith has a point concerning the attitudes she faces here. She is a dyed in the wool populist and a true example of WQhite Privilege struggling to survive...and I respect her right to be heard, even though she is indeed often a bit dogmatic, simplistic, and willfully ignorant of modern science and critical thinking. Sometimes I agree with the Populists in that the relativistic humanistic "equality for all quirks and choices" type of thought is in fact an attempt to make such thinking global and proper by default. So Theodoric feels victimized in Wisconsin? So a case can be made that the Indians were victimized...as wer the minorities...as were the gays...etc etc.
Soon, even the poor oppressed terrorists of Islam will be granted rights and defended by this altruistic bunch of narcissist demigods known as the political
****....(You know where I am going).
On the other hand, let's say the global Populists, German ***** and Authoritarian Christian Nationalists were to win. Then what? Well let me tell you the world would be no better off because of it.
We, humans, are engaged in an ongoing war of ideologies. I see it in this microcosm of EvC Forum just as I see it in the governments and attitudes of people throughout the world. Take your pick: Oppression or Seduction through humanism? Neither way is the way that people must learn to form consensus and co-exist.

Re: Anti-American Propaganda,
There is a real and valid point there. You just want it silenced.
This is a trait of Right-Wing extremism. The Populists were in favor of Christian nationalism and one nation under God. The problem, is they don't respect God as much as they respect their own manifest destiny and entitlement.
On the other hand, (there is always two) it is one thing to protest and push for global equality and equal vs preferential representation and law, but the problem with the humanist push is that it threw God out.
The dollar bill pyramid explains it well.
Jesus was the capstone that the builders (of society) rejected. In its place, they want a capstone of global consensus and unified human wisdom. Which I predict will fail. Thus we have two losing ideologies fighting for control on this planet. Both of them are flawed.

Shall We Close This Topic?
Ski, are you in favor of closing this topic? We DO get carried away around here but I don't want to scare you off. Feel free to start a topic in Faith & Belief and defend your belief in facts rather than fairy tales. If you have no objections, I will ask Percy if I can close it. Does anyone else besides Theodoric and Caffeine suggest it be closed?

Since the topic is in summation mode anyway...
jar writes:
Reality always wins.
But the game is not yet over. Or we could call it the human experiment. Do you have any idea or possible clues as to what we are testing?
We have not yet established beyond a reasonable doubt that what the snake oil sellers are peddling is a worthless product.
We have established that many people can not or will not believe without evidence, while a larger control group doubles down when faced with a lack of evidence.
We have not yet tested whether the larger control group might not through self-fulfilling prophecy make simple stories and myths out to occur anyway.
