Thanks for the reports. These are possibly DOS attacks again. I'll try to correlate with the logs.

Recent Board Slowness
I wasn't online while it was happening, but it sounds like a similar problem to a couple months ago. Next time it happens while I'm online I'll track it down.

Re: Forum being slow
Forum was slow this morning, too. I restarted Apache, seems to have fixed the problem.

Re: Forum being totally unresponsive
I've added an Apache restart every 4 hours, let's see if that helps.

Re: Getting misdirected to the log-in page
It does sound like a cookie problem. Log in credentials are stored in cookies. My guess is that you've managed to get cookies stored under both "evcforum.net" and " EvC Forum: Home Page ". Both the webhost and the software force accesses to "evcforum.net" to morph into " EvC Forum: Home Page ", but I suppose it could still happen.
You use Internet Explorer, and I'm on my Mac right now and can't check out the cookie deletion details of IE. If you know how, delete all cookies associated with "evcforum.net" (enter "delete cookies ie specific" into Google for instructions). If you don't know how then just delete all cookies, which has the drawback that you'll have to log in to all websites again.

Re: Getting misdirected to the log-in page
Microsoft Edge is the successor to Internet Explorer on Windows 10. Skipping the details, you can delete specific cookies in Microsoft Edge, but they make it as difficult as possible. Should you ever need to delete cookies for EvC Forum then unless it would represent a considerable hardship I recommend you just delete all cookies. Should you ever need to do this then return to this thread for specific instructions.

Re: Probablyl not a bug but...
If you're still using Microsoft Edge, both date/time and Essential Links are working for me.

Should be fixed. You'll have to:
  • Do a hard reload (hold down Ctrl and click refresh).
  • Click options, select safety, select delete browsing history, leave only the "Temporary internet files and website files" item checked, then click Delete.
Thanks for reporting this.

Where is "Options?"
Turns out Internet Explorer actually calls it "Tools", but it's the gear icon in the upper right hand corner.
The gear icon most often means options, while the crossed hammer/wrench icon most often means tools.

Everything works now except the Do Nothing button.
This means the Do Nothing button was working properly in IE, but I have fixed it and now it is broken just as before.
Did you recently switch to IE, because a lot of the things you noticed have been broken for a long time. I stopped testing on IE a couple years ago. Maybe I should start testing on IE again because Edge is actually losing market share to IE according to a report from last year: Browser wars 2018: Microsoft Edge falls behind ... Internet Explorer?

If there's a set of menus near the upper left of the IE window, click on Help->About Internet Explorer. Do you have IE 11?
If there are no menus then click on the alt button, making the menus visible, then follow the above instructions.

Google's on a "mobile friendly" kick, and Google claims the EvC webpages are not mobile friendly, which means we get down-rated in searches. I've been making modifications trying to make them mobile friendly, and one of the casualties was the times in the banner: load time, session begin time, and current time. I hope to add them back in at some point.
If you know how to get to your control panel then I can tell you how to find out what OS version you're running.
If you have an iPhone be sure to upgrade to iOS 13 - it has a dark mode that will be very easy on your eyes.

Our chat room supplier, AddonChat, went belly up a while back. The URL continued to be valid, but no chat room would appear. Now even the URL no longer works, the cause of the commas. When I find time I'll find another chat room supplier.

Release of Minor Changes
To see the full effect of the changes you'll need to do a hard reload - read upthread for instructions. Changes:
  • Any missing image should now be replaced with an "Image Not Found" image.
  • The [code] dBCode has changed. A code region is now placed in its own display area that includes horizontal scrolling when lines are too long. This change was needed in order to become more mobile friendly. Example (actual dBoard code):
    if (!empty($MessagesThisPage)) {

        // Add a field to $MsgsInfo (whose elements $MessagesThisPage points to) that
        // is a vector reference. Each vector location is itself a reference
        // to information about a single reply to that message.
        $smallestMsgID = $MessagesThisPage;
        foreach($MsgsInfo as $_) {
          $thisReplytoMsgID = $_[4];
          if ($thisReplytoMsgID >= $smallestMsgID) {
            // Save msg ID and number
            if (isset($MessageIndices[$thisReplytoMsgID]))
              $MsgsInfo$thisReplytoMsgID]][15] = array($_, $_[8]);
          }
        }

        if (!$BD['MsgOrderChrono'])
          $MessagesThisPage = array_reverse($MessagesThisPage);

        foreach($MessagesThisPage as $message) {
          $threadHTML .=
            RenderMessage($message, $MsgsInfo, $MessageIndices, false, $alternateTableRow,
                          $modPower, $mbrID, $forumID, $threadID, $closed, $F['dBCodeEnabled'],
                          $firstMsgNdx, $lastMsgNdx, $memberMessageMode, null, null, null,
                          $modPower);
          $alternateTableRow = ($alternateTableRow == $altTableRow1)
            ? $altTableRow2
            : $altTableRow1;
        }
      }
Please report problems here.
