Re: Creationist mindset
She's lying to us, to our faces.
Is she?
I understand your frustrations but might it be that Our Lady Of Faith is an actual bonafide batshit crazy religious person with delusions of sanity?
As calculus is beyond the mental grasp of a 4th grader so reality is beyond the mental grasp of this poor demented crazy person?
Think bag lady flailing around mumbling in the corner of the parking lot with nothing in her grocery cart but a bible.

Re: Creationist mindset
Hi Faith,
I continue to encourage you to avoid commenting on yourself, because it makes it acceptable to respond about you.
Faith writes:
I think I'm saying perfectly innocent true things...
A discussion style that includes ignoring many facts, many arguments, and very often entire messages, that includes refusing to examine much evidence, that instigates through constant misrepresentation, that picks and chooses who deserves replies, is not how someone "saying perfectly innocent true things" operates. It is much more the style of someone dishonest and afraid of the truth.
As of now until further notice I will not be responding to anything you write.
You drew DWise1's ill-considered response in Message 712 by accusing him of not providing examples in Message 710. You've been provided examples, explanation and evidence of your errors by many, many people time and time again, including DWise1, and pretending that's never been done invites that kind of the response.
Please stop making claims of what a wonderful person you are because you are not the topic, and you are so obviously an example of the opposite that it can't help but draw responses. This thread has a topic and it's the Flood, not you.

Re: Creationist mindset
At the risk of continuing off topic, I think it might be a 'good conversation to have' about lying and forum courtesy.
Is she?

I agree, I don't believe that a 'true believer' is necessarily lying. They firmly believe what they say. I think that a lie implies the intent to deceive or report false information. While the information is false, if someone believes it, then it is not necessarily a lie. The question becomes one of when can a deceiver be considered consciously corrected. In this case, our experience says 'never'. So, as Ned stated, it's all a waste of time.
Having said this, I think it is also true that the casual dismissal (without evidence or reason) of someone's extensive and carefully written post strains the fabric of forum civility and should be discouraged.
I mean, did we really expect this thread to go any differently?

I've been tempted to do that a number of times already in this thread, and then I think back to all the detailed and carefully laid out responses that have been completely ignored over the years, as in no reply to the message whatsoever, or briefly dismissed as speculation or interpretation or supposition. RAZD has attempted it in this thread, and here's how it has gone with his messages that were responses to Faith:

A few of Faith's responses are lengthy, and that might lead one to think she's actually engaging in discussion, but if you actually read them she is dismissing the response and redescribing from scratch her views without modification.

Re: Creationist mindset
There is no way to resolve this. What Percy says is true, though in a way I've said it myself, it's just totally unacceptable at EvC. All I want is some acknowledgement of my own point of view and that never happens. As a result I don't pay any attention at all to anybody else's point of view except now and then to identify a concept I know I'm going to have to deal with eventually. But it's true I don't pay attention to anybody's posts any more and the longer they are the less I can put my mind to them. I absolutely cannot even read Percy's posts any more, they are nothing but complaints about me. All true, yes, but as long as I my creationist view is treated like trash, which it always has been and always will be I can't put any energy into more arguments against it. So another chorus of hatred from my enemies about how I shouldn't even be here and they're probably right. I've argued the Flood to death and just find I can barely muster the energy to write anything on it any more, and on that thread I'm getting barraged by hundreds of topics, all without even a nod of slight approval to anything I've said. I suppose that doesn't suffice to justify my ignoring others but I can't do anything else.
Now this post was an attempt to be clear and honest, but I've written such posts many times in the past and they just get trashed too. So there's maybe no way to say anything at all, and I need to go elsewhere to work on my creationist views.

We regularly acknowledge your point of view while pointing out your errors.
You don't want acknowledgement. You want unthinking acceptance of your claims. Which requires discarding all scientific knowledge and logic.
Ain't happening unless you start connecting with reality.

Re: Creationist mindset
Yes that's exactly what I mean, and I know I'll never get any other kind of response. Actually I want THlNKING acceptance but that isn't goint to happen here because everything I say is wrong here. That's just the way it is. But it is the reason I can no longer give a moment's consideration of the continuing debunkery. Go ahead, bring on the barrage of denunciations. Why do I refuse to see that I'm wrong; why won't I learn anything; etc etc etc.

Re: Creationist mindset
The trouble is, Faith, is that your viewpoint is trash.
By which I mean you don’t bother to with the evidence your reasoning is appalling, you repeat falsified arguments again and again. Making up excuses without regard to the truth - which is your usual mode of thought - is not going to convince anybody who isn’t desperate to be convinced.
If you can’t come up with something that stands up to rational examination that isn’t our fault.
Repeating the same old false assertions and defeated arguments is a waste of your time. They won’t magically get better. So of course they get trashed again - it’s all they deserve. Learning from discussion and improving your arguments - or even abandoning hopeless nonsense like your Flood geology - would be the better way to go. But it is up or you to do that.

I doubt it. But maybe you will try to do better instead of blaming other people for your faults. If you don’t, then it didn’t get through.
