As always, you provide absolutely no evidence to support the dogma of your Cult but the authors of the Constitution did provide explanations of why they created the document involved and why they found the greatest threat to the creation of a nation here was Fundamental Christianity. To protect the populus from Fundamental Christianity they included the First Amendment.
quote:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Like the Bible, the US Constitution is something you might consider reading.

Actually the best of the Enlightenment was inspired by a fear of Christianity so you can say that the example of Christianity inspired the separation from it's threat.

Yet you have never been able to show any evidence of paganism or that there is any issue with paganism or that the First Amendment was not intended to make sure that the Puritan nutjobs could only threaten their own gullible members.

Christianity cannot be trusted with any power or authority.
Faith writes:
There is no doubt that the God of the Declaration was intended to be the Christian God. It would be utterly ridiculous to suppose anything else considering the majority mindset of the day.
The majority mindset of the day was that there was no such thing as "The Christian God" and that Christianity should never gain any power beyond verbal persuasion. The whole experience of the colonies was that no Christian Sect should have any political power or could be trusted with any power.
Thank God the very FIRST amendment to the Constitution made that very clear.

Re: Christianity cannot be trusted with any power or authority.
Faith writes:
That was rejected rightly in the Constitution, but that the nation was to be run on general Christian principles was not rejected, and in practice that is what happened for the first hundred or more years anyway, with Christian prayer in Congress, Bibles printed for use in the schools, laws against anti-Christian speech and many other indications of the essential Christianity of the nation.
Yes, there were violations of the Constitution particularly by individual states but thank God those abominations like Bibles printed for use in the schools or laws against anti-Christian speech were rightly deemed as violations of the Constitution and forbidden.
And there is no such thing as "essential Christianity" as is amply demonstrated by all of the evidence ever seen.
There are no general Christian Principles just as there is no evidence of a Young Earth or Biblical Flood or Special Creation.

It was the federal government, not the individual states, that "violated the Constitution," that very Constitution that had just brought the United States government into being.
Again you simply spout nonsense.
It was the States and individual Sects that tried to put Bibles in Schools, pass laws preventing anti-Christian Speech and not the Federal Government.
How did the Federal Government violate the Constitution?

And the Supreme Court has since then corrected their errors.
But you still seem to place your demonic god over Allah and that cannot be allowed in a civilized state.

Of course. A civilized state would of course promote the bombing and shooting-up of churches and malls and places of entertainment, and the hijacking of airplanes to destroy buildings and kill thousands in the name of Allah and so on.
And, as usual, you do not address what I posted but rather try to move the goal posts, con the rubes, misdirect attention and all the other dishonorable and dishonest tactics that are the norm for you.
Please show where I said "A civilized state would of course promote the bombing and shooting-up of churches and malls and places of entertainment, and the hijacking of airplanes to destroy buildings and kill thousands in the name of Allah and so on" or simply admit that you are once again simply telling falsehoods (that means lying).

A thought on how the strongly affiliated could be holding steady could well be due to their aggressive proselytizing, such that they try to counter the hemorrhaging of their next generation with new converts.
Remember that the strongly affiliated will also include those of us who are members of one of the know chapters of Club Christian that have no issues with any of the findings of science and are not members of the Christian Cult of Ignorance.

Are you aware that the original motto of Harvard University was not the single word "Veritas" but something that included Christ in it? Online it is given variously as Truth for Christ and the Church or Glory to Christ etc., and I'm not going to spend more time looking it up.
You do realize that there is a difference between Harvard University and Harvard Divinity School? While the Divinity School is certainly part of the University it is only one part.
You do understand that education in the West was simply trying to catch up to the general education level found in the rest of the world, particularly the Muslim, Taoist, Buddhist nations?

I don't know how you manage to be so completely wrong about everything having to do with Christianity. I suppose you must have taken courses in it.
Yet the fact remains, the Christian West lagged far behind the rest of the civilized world when it came to education, literacy, personal freedom, standards of living and societal justice.

The colleges and universities that existed in the Muslim, Taoist and Buddhist world during the Dark Ages of the West.
Really Faith, learn just some basic history. Look at the actual history of China and India and the marvel that was the Muslim world.

Re: Christianity cannot be trusted with any power or authority.
Of course I have proof Faith, just look at the history of education under the Iberian Caliphs.
Once you realize how ignorant you really are we can move on to the basic tenets of Taoism and Confucianism where a duty of any ruler was to see to the prosperity and education of the citizenry.

Re: Christianity cannot be trusted with any power or authority.
Too funny Faith. We are not talking about quotes but rather facts. Lots of facts.
Lots and lots of facts.
Lets look at what I actually posted instead of your continuing misrepresentations and utter ignorance.
From Message 77
quote:
Of course I have proof Faith, just look at the history of education under the Iberian Caliphs.
The link is to an article on the education under the caliphs of the Iberian Peninsula and the summary explains that it is an article about that subject.
then there was (from the same message) :
quote:
A few other sites of learning
Another link and I even summarized it as "A few other sites of learning".
I understand you prefer remaining ignorant but I cannot do much more than providing you the opportunity to learn.
And as I said; once you realize how ignorant you really are and decide you would like to learn we can move on to the basic tenets of Taoism and Confucianism where a duty of any ruler was to see to the prosperity and education of the citizenry.
