Apparently...without googling each item on this list, I would say that the single right answer is Trivia....

What a Church Key is. I struggled here. If its off the wall then there may be some gospel / music reference. But I dunno. It's a beer can opener (makes a triangular hole to the side of the lid; fell out of common use due to pop-tops). I learned that one listening to KRLA's "Credibility Gap" coverage of the 1968 Presidential conventions (the correspondent was a skid-row bum with a microphone hidden in his church key). The explanation that I read is that churches are built as cheaply as possible, so the lock on the door is of such poor quality that you could open it with a beer can opener. That explanation probably dates back to when doors had actual keyholes. Somehow I get the feeling that I simply don't understand what this topic is about. 42
Everybody should know that 42 is the Ultimate Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. But since nobody can figure out what the Ultimate Question that it answers is, we cannot make sense of the Answer. 42 is also Fox Mulder's apartment number. As well as the number of times that he has watched "Plan 9 from Outer Space."
Fulda Gap
A geographic location in Germany, former a wide pass near the border between East and West Germany (still a wide pass, but now in the middle of the reunited country). It was very important for NATO planning since it was deemed the most likely place that Warsaw Pact forces would invade Germany come WWIII.

There is one thing in common to all the stuff listed though and I was hoping someone would see the connection.

It's a beer can opener the clues all point to a singular answer. My best guess was 'Elvis'. Yeah, I was trying to tie Church Key to Elvis. That's the struggle.

The name of the RCA Dog who is waiting for his Master's Voice. Nipper. Very weird, I woke up this morning with it in my mind. The explanation that I read is that churches are built as cheaply as possible, so the lock on the door is of such poor quality that you could open it with a beer can opener. That explanation probably dates back to when doors had actual keyholes. When I was in high school my friends and I all thought calling a beer can opener a "church key" was a derogatory reference to the Christian churches that disapproved of alcohol consumption and also a sarcastic comment on "Christians"' who sinned all week and went to church on Sunday. I still have no clue what Jar's single right answer is.....42 should cover it.What if Eleanor Roosevelt had wings? -- Monty Python One important characteristic of a theory is that is has survived repeated attempts to falsify it. Contrary to your understanding, all available evidence confirms it. --Subbie If evolution is shown to be false, it will be at the hands of things that are true, not made up. --percy The reason that we have the scientific method is because common sense isn't reliable. -- Taq

It's a partial list of things that elicit blank stares from anyone under about 50 today.
