I learned that one listening to KRLA's "Credibility Gap" coverage of the 1968 Presidential conventions (the correspondent was a skid-row bum with a microphone hidden in his church key).The explanation that I read is that churches are built as cheaply as possible, so the lock on the door is of such poor quality that you could open it with a beer can opener.
