I think I misunderstood you. I assume doctrinal heresies are acquired intellectually, not through spiritual experience in prayer, but you seem to be saying that Newton's prayer itself would have misled him? There are people who have spiritual experiences that are in fact satanic, but that's because they don't adhere to the Bible which is the safeguard against that kind of problem. It is true that some misread the Bible and that's what I think of as intellectual error, along the lines of Arianism and Unitarianism.
I don't know. This does raise questions. There are those who say that Wesley's doctrinal errors have misled many churches and that could certainly be true. It was from the Wesleyan line that Pentecostalism developed and then the Charismatic movement. And Finney's errors were even more serious. There are those who impute to his misguidance the proliferation of the cults in the nineteenth century, including Mormonism, Christian Science and the Jehovah's Witnesses. Finney himself didn't deviate that far but error does produce error.

The comparison with the telescope rather suggests that znewton was speaking of understanding. After all, astronomical observations were all part of his great theory of gravity. So yes, if Newton's understanding was badly wrong it seems likely that his claim was based on an illusion rather than any genuine vision or closeness.

Intellectual errors are heart errors
Faith, put your cookies on a lower shelf and make them more accessible and straight forward rather than wrapping them so descreetly.
Intellectual errors hardly ever happen or dont happen at all. The good Lord gave His people a brain (including those that are not His people and are not bright). They have the tools for discernment as well as being able to hear from the Holy Spirit day or night.
Lack of Intelligence or intellectual error happens only when someone is insincere or closed minded...... their 1Q etc is not involved.
People get what they deserve.. thats the Christian Principle and it applies in all circumstance.
If a person is dishonest intellectually they get deceptions and it is not their brains fault it is their heart's fault or their decisions fault.
Be more specific in your writings and more direct rather than excusing the 'willingly ignorant' and 'willingly disobedient' and 'willingly dumb and devoid'.
Those with a good heart get the heart and mind and atitude they deserve..
Ask and ye shall receive always applies
If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of the Lord and the Lord gives them willingly and liberally.... and helps them become creationists rather than atheists and evolutionists.
Mystery solved

Thanks to the webmasters HERE for allowing me to defeat atheists and evolutionists HERE, and show they have no math, no science backing them up and that they are totally dependant on semantics and luck and chance as their only support for their religion. Thanks again...
