Is there any other explanation that can explain what was seen and documented other than that the event happened 160 million years ago?
Yes. The Flood, which happened a few thousand years ago, changed the constant c universally.

Don't laugh. One of our local famous YEC creationists, a mechanical engineer by trade, preaches that "science says that the Big Bang occured in a wet Primodal Soup"and that the Global Flood changed it all, again. The fundies hang onto his lips and basically worship him. He's a scientist!

Nobody can ask questions, as it is published in his books. Like any good creationist does. No questions allowed.
But, the short answer from his books (translated) goes something like this: "...like the global flood also affected the assumptions involved in radioactive decay rates".
