This is an interesting extension of the ideas in Colin Groves' 1997 paper "The Advantages and Disadvantages of Being Domesticated" published in Perspectives in Human Biology 4:1
To quote from a review of the paper:
Groves also launches an amusing but highly improbable trial balloon. In his words, "Humans domesticated dogs, and dogs domesticated humans" in a symbiotic relationship that was stable "over 100,000 years or so."
It will be interesting to compare the two papers and see what developments there have been in the last five years, and whether it is still "amusing but highly improbable."
Thanks for posting it - I would surely have missed it.
