Each book of the King James Bible has a majestic voice, similar in power to the others, but unique in sound. This quality seems to emerge because the way that the words are arranged creates a certain pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables, producing various rhythmic effects which work together to produce the overall voice of each individual book, all voices sounding smooth, flowing, and powerful. And truly, not only are the books in this manner lyrical, but their words are direct and clear, defying the expectation of sound that one might have in the plainest choice of words.
Therefore the question is this: Is it possible, given the flexibility of our modern English language, to write a work of prose in clear and direct language, manifesting the rhythmic quality of the King James Bible? And, using what strategy can we accomplish this? Consider that the piece must say exactly what you intend it to say. It must neither embellish nor vary the intended thought.
