I've been getting this error for a few days now - it's a bloody nuisance because if it happens as you post (likely) it's lost. Yes. It improved for a couple of days yesterday and the day before, but today has been back to normal. I'm getting 503s about 20% of the time and slowness all the time. By slowness, I mean it connects then hangs, then if it doesn't 503, it connects quickly.

No problem so far today. As that's a DoS attack, can't your hosting company block it at their firewall for you?

There is a difference between the two - DoS is an attack from a specific user, DDos is a Distributed attack, usually from a botnet, so you get larger volumes but more importantly the attacks can come in from thousands of different and unpredictable IPs which can't easily be blocked. That's why I said your hosting company could simply block the single IP at their firewall. They can. Whether they will depends on the T&Cs and your relationship with them.

More 503s yesterday and today - don't think I'll be using the site to post anymore until the DoS is stopped - I'm losing 1 out of 5 attempts and as I type this I have no clue whether it'll get lost or not.

Forum has been - and still is - very slow, large post-posting delays and frequent 503s. Been going on for a week or so now.
