Percy,
You know as much about fracking(sp) as you do brain surgery. The article you referenced is talking about salt water injection wells, that is not where frac fluid ends up, it is recycled. Salt water injection wells take the production water from producing oil and gas wells and return it to the ground. Been doing that for over a hundred years. How deep is the potable water at your house? You don't know. If you drill a 2000 ft. deep well at your house is the water potable or is it's salt content so high you can't use it for anything. Be truthful, you have no fucking clue, but you think you should vote on how I run my business. The association between high pressure waste water injection and earthquakes goes back to 1968. This was because a geologist noticed the increase in earthquakes that corresponded to the high pressure injection of nuclear waste into a deep well in the Rocky Mountain Assenal, regulated and run by the Feds you so much like for oversight. It was also drilled right into the Denver Fault........the engineers in the Fed government thought that would be a good idea. I've seen them do other crazy stuff like frac the RBEO-1 well near Rifle, Co. in the 1970s with three nuclear bombs. At USGS I was doing the log analysis on this well and had trouble getting the info I needed because it was classified. Today there are gas wells within 1.5 miles of the RBEO-1 and have no radiation in their gas. Your USGS study associates salt water injection wells with earthquakes if they occur within 15km or 9 miles of the injection well. You might buy that BS but I'm a geologist and you are going to have to show me that. (BTW there are ways to test this communcation with pressure tests if it exists, BUT there aren't any here) Basically your post showed me someone can read something, and because of a lack of background, has no clue what it really means

Just so you all know I have supported Mr. Cruz since the beginning.........with money as well.
I have many friends who support Bernie..... and I think they should go for broke, I think the DNC and Hillary are screwing them. We just look at the world differently. I get that, I'm a big kid, I can lose fair and square in an election, after it's all done maybe we can talk.

BJ writes: If it's the cost in terms of human lives that you're concerned about, I would like to point out that Hillary is among the 60% of current presidential candidates who have not openly advocated war crimes. So, may I humbly suggest that your anit-people-dying anxieties have bigger fish to fry than Hillary Clinton? Blue Jay, I've posted this before, but I would like to point out that Hillary is the ONLY candidate who IS a war criminal, and who HAS murdered about a million innocents including woman and children. 100% war criminal, confirmed. W A R . C R I M I N A L. For sufficient evidence, I'll point you to two of my apparently incontestable posts: Message 76 and Message 678. (I'm still waiting for Theo to stop running away and present his 'evidence.' Strikingly similar outcome as when Faith is asked to present evidence after she pronounces some nonsense.) As for the rest of the Republican candidates, they have spewed threatening pus in an attempt to attract like-minded voters for the Republican nomination. However, at the moment, the Republican candidates are not war criminals. They MAY go on to become war criminals like war-criminal Hillary, but at the moment they are NOT war criminals . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . yet. (It IS remotely possible that Trump is all talk, all bark. Carnival BARKer, that is) But why even borrow either anxiety? Blue Jay, do dark-skinned middle-eastern people's lives matter or not? Not a rhetoric question. Do dark-skinned middle-eastern people's lives matter or not? If you do not believe middle-eastern lives do not matter, a Hillary vote will SURELY condemn millions of middle-eastern people to the exact same foreign policy as Obama's, and Bush Jr.'s. Let me remind you again, that Hillary was an enthusiastic supporter of Bush Jr's invasion of Iraq based on lies. And, through Hillary's "Clinton Foundation," Saudi Arabia has "contributed," in exchange, Sec-of-State Hillary made sure Saudi Arabia received BILLIONS of dollars of weaponry. Saudi Arabia is one of the largest exporters of terrorism in the middle east and the most violent oppressors of women in the world. So . . . May I humbly suggest that you don't apply the either—or fallacy of choosing Hillary or any of the Republican candidates and search for a more ethical option. In light of Bernie's recent AIPAC speech, It doesn't take a rocket-scientist to find at least three better options.

Hi Percy,
I’ve gotten so used to monosyllabic gibberish replies--the type that Jar usually gives--that I’ve forgotten how useful and enlightening your forum can be. Your post was thoughtful, well-written, AND INCLUDED SUPPORTING EVIDENCE (Theo, take note). Thanks. I've read petrophysics1 post, above. As he is a Cruz supporter and a worker in the fossil fuel industry, I guess I would be more trusting of your words . . . or possibly Dick Chaney. Regardless, there is no way I could ever trust the fossil fuel industry or america's lack of serious regulation when it comes to health and the environment. Environmentalism has, sadly, been absent in the Republican debates. And as mentioned, Hillary’s hands are in both Wall Street’s pockets and the Fossil Fuel industry’s. So a Trump vs Hillary debate may not be very enlightening or forthcoming in facts. If there are more ‘fracking facts’ to be uncovered, I hope a new thread can be created to cover this important topic.

The price of gasoline was $1.45 a gallon in 1981..........my brother bought gas the other day in Denver for $1.29. That's the difference between the free market and the shit you sell. Do cars or houses cost less than they did in 1981? You don't know shit about the oil and gas industry or basic geology and it shows.

Percy writes: Today's news reports that fracking has placed 7 million Americans at risk of man-made earthquakes, USGS says. Here's a nice USGS map from the article: Everyone please note this article does not say what Percy said it does, the USGS is NOT saying what Percy says. Read the article, it is about salt water injection wells..........it is not about fracking(sp). Edited by petrophysics1, : No reason given. Edited by petrophysics1, : No reason given.

So go to linkedin and look up my name Martin P. Granica...........and read it and see if you think Percy knows more about this than I do......dronestar probably voted for Obama, his lack of knowledge is frightening.

I agree with at least one of your points - re: fracking vs water disposal injection in the earthquake situation.
But...
The price of gasoline was $1.45 a gallon in 1981..........my brother bought gas the other day in Denver for $1.29. That's the difference between the free market and the shit you sell. And what you're selling is "Fuck the environment, we got cheap gasoline!". That is part of the larger "Fuck the environment, there's money to be made." So Moose,'
Where exactly did I say that? You have a actual geologic/ environmental concern about fracking(sp) wells tell me what it is. And I'll show how you are full of shit. Go ahead, give it a stab. What I worked at and did lowered the price of gasoline to the same price it was in 1981...................what have you done? That would be shit.

Just so you all know I have supported Mr. Cruz since the beginning.........with money as well. Well, good for you. Many people have taken against him just because he happens to be the Devil, and it's nice to see that you can rise above such prejudices.

Would you please describe the attributes of the devil you find Cruz to possess? Thank you. Well, basically two things. (1) He looks like the Devil.(2) He's the Devil. I don't mind that so much, but he's also a Republican.

Back in the precursor topic I had a message with the subtitle:
Andrew Dice Clay + lots of money = Donald Trump In which I said:
Doing the most epic stand-up comedy tour ever. Moose Now there is the matter of this message's subtitle. Source:
Former Spokeswoman Spills the Beans on Trump Which, in turn, references An Open Letter to Trump Voters from His Top Strategist-Turned-Defector Quoting from the Ed Brayton extract (note ellipses that were included there):
quote:quote: More at the source, and even more at the source's source. Anyway, I now see the punchline for the "most epic stand-up comedy tour ever": The Donald passes the number of delegates needed to be nominated. His victory speech: "You've got to be kidding! I hereby withdraw from running for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, and endorse Hillary Clinton as my choice for that position." Or is the withdrawal going to happen April 1st? Either way, it's going to be YOOGE! quote: So if I understand you correctly, your point is that the article is incorrect to say that frackers pump salt wastewater deep underground?
How deep is the potable water at your house? You don't know. If you drill a 2000 ft. deep well at your house is the water potable or is it's salt content so high you can't use it for anything. Be truthful, you have no fucking clue, but you think you should vote on how I run my business. I have maps of the underground aquifers in our neighborhood from the local water management board, but I don't understand the relevancy. There's no oil drilling in New Hampshire, and certainly no fracking. No one around here, including those who had the misfortune of needing deep wells (at 330 feet mine's a baby) has ever had a problem with salt. Around here it's iron and manganese.
Your USGS study associates salt water injection wells with earthquakes if they occur within 15km or 9 miles of the injection well. You might buy that BS but I'm a geologist and you are going to have to show me that. Aren't the people at USGS also geologists?
Basically your post showed me someone can read something, and because of a lack of background, has no clue what it really means. Then tell us what it really means. --Percy
