A Gentle Jab For A Biblical Creationist
Author:RAZD
Forum:Links & Information
Thread: Don't Believe In Evolution? Try Thinking Harder
Message #:20
RAZD takes an opportunity to educate a Biblical Creationist in an encouraging, evidence based reply. I applaud this post for being informative. RAZD ends it by saying to Rocky
Perhaps if you selected what you consider is your *best* argument against evolution we can start with that to see who is more correct when it comes to matching the evidence of reality.
a mild challenge which is not disrespectful.
The debate is far from settled. Evidence in one corner...Belief in the other. Perhaps our goal should be to type out our arguments articulately. Thats a daily challenge for me.

Thanks for the vote. I don't know what to say about it either. I only intended to point out that Oswald's use of a mail-order rifle was what brought about the legislation that outlawed mail-order firearms, but kind of got carried away.

Your post shone brightly against the foil! Nice job and well deserving of the nomination.

Rrhain on Gay Marriage, Seperate but Equal
Landmark gay marriage trial starts today in California, Message 722
Well said, especially when he gets to
And to Faith's idea that "blacks find it offensive," I find it offensive that anybody would dare to deny the equivalency of the fight for civil rights based upon race with the fight for civil rights based upon sexual orientation. If we're going to go down that road, gays have it worse:
Kudos

Another massive effort from dwise1. We've heard much to all of this before, but here's another fine summary concerning the "creation/evolution wars". Perhaps a contender for the title "best post in evcforum.net history"?

Re: dwise1 - False Dichotomies and the Two Model Approach
Dwise1 has become our historian of creationism. Perhaps he should consider a book-length account. Compiling his posts here on that topic would be a good start.

Re: dwise1 - False Dichotomies and the Two Model Approach
My creation/evolution website is at http://cre-ev.dwise1.net/. Unfortunately, I have far too little time to maintain it properly.
For a long time I've been meaning to write a page about the Two Model Approach, but have had to deal with other priorities instead. I was thinking that this contribution of mine could serve as the nucleus for that page. I certainly doubt that Lamden is going to come back, so if I only meant it for him then it would have been a waste of time and effort.

Whether Lamden comes back or not; I'm sure that everyone who read your post learned a lot. Thank you.
I'll try to be the first one in line to buy your book on the subject if you decide to publish something like that.

Blue Jay
A New Run at the End of Evolution by Genetic Processes Argument - Message 104
I feel like I’ve made a good-faith effort to understand and explain, but I’m still having trouble identifying what keeps you from agreeing with my perspective on what is and what isn’t rational.
Maybe it’s because I’ve only ever presented one paper on beneficial mutations? Maybe you think we only have one experiment that supports our idea that mutations create new alleles? Is that the problem?
Just in case it is, here are a few more examples:
... (see link)
When we say that alleles come from mutations, we aren’t making wild, unfounded assumptions. There really is very good evidence that alleles come from mutations, and a lot of scientists have put in a lot of hard work to acquire that evidence. And, there is no evidence that alleles come from anywhere else. Until that evidence comes out, mutation seems like the best --- indeed, the only --- hypothesis we’ve got.
Science does not work on assumptions, but on hypothesis developed from evidence in order to explain the evidence.
A good and to the point post.
Enjoy

This is the best summation and reaction to the fake "outrage" by the martyrs for Xmas in the fake war that I have ever read.

My sentiments exactly.
