Re: bicker, bicker, bicker ...
Color itself doesn't even exist outside our ability to observe it. Love your enemies!

Re: bicker, bicker, bicker ...
Ummm Yeah, it does. Green is in the electro-magnetic spectrum. Your comment is the "If a tree falls and there's no one to hear it, does it make a sound?" Yes ... the vibrations are still present. The color green is still there ... even if no one is around to observe it. evidence over faith ... observation over theory

Re: bicker, bicker, bicker ...
Green is in the electro-magnetic spectrum. Nope. The wavelengths are on the spectrum. But the color is a reaction of our eyes, brain, and other factors to those wavelengths.
The color green is still there ... even if no one is around to observe it. Or maybe it's the color yellow... Love your enemies!

It is a fact that there are photons with a wavelength between 495 and 570 nanometers but "green" is not a fact. It's subjective. When a tree falls in the forest there are vibrations - but are they "sound" before they strike an eardrum? The answer is subjective.

such fun
Ummm Yeah, it does. Green is in the electro-magnetic spectrum. Most people only have three color receptors that define our "primary" colors. Some females have four with orange added due to some sex linked gene associated with colorblindness in males.
Tetrachromacy occurs in birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles and insects. They see four primary colors. What you see depends on what you look with. Enjoy

What you see depends on what you look with. Pff... five is nothing. I'm sure if we asked a mantis shrimp what he thought of our 'color facts', our ignorance of 'reality' would give him quite a laugh. Love your enemies!

Once again ... I'll give up.
Actually, I won't try it, I'll do it. You all can continue to bicker ... but just like with my sister all those decades ago, the only way out of the argument is to walk away. You all can question the validity of a true fact. This isn't "open-minded skepticism" ... this is just nay saying what a fact is, and ... I just don't care anymore. Done with this thread. evidence over faith ... observation over theory

Re: Once again ... I'll give up.
Truth, facts and reality are a bitch ain't they. Unless your willing to question your own preconceptions, maybe this is not the place for you. The people here are some of the smartest I have ever had the pleasure to have a debate with. They will call you on everything.
Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

If you need to qualify "fact" with "true", you're just making the "truth" of your "facts" less certain.

I digress, that was a surprisingly interesting discussion about facts.
