But I do wish, just today, I could block all messages from Facebook friends with the word "risen" in them.
He is risen!
(So we can finally stop blaming the Jews for killing Him. He ain't dead.)

Re: Happy Fertility Goddess Day
I think that's a little harsh. If we were talking about Christmas, maybe you'd have a point, but the Passover is a non-arbitrary, non-movable date which just happens to fall in Eostremonath, ...
And Passover is an appropriate name for the date, Easter is not.
Calling it Easter and having bonnets and bunnies and painted eggs is not Passover, nor a celebration of rising ...

we are limited in our ability to understand
by our ability to understand

to share.

Well, sure. My point was that the Church didn't steal these things, but rather they were foisted upon the Church as a result of the coincidence of dates and the residual paganism of the laity.

Pagan Fertility versus Spiritual Maturity
My point was that the Church didn't steal these things, but rather they were foisted upon the Church as a result of the coincidence of dates and the residual paganism of the laity.
Some argue that the exact same residual paganism exists today---in different forms.
The False Promise of the Prosperity Gospel
Jesus was never raised from the dead so that we could be prosperous.
Perhaps the next question is what He was raised for.

When I use a word, Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, it means just what I choose it to meannothing more nor less.

Three ladies were talking about abortion. One said that life begins at conception and another said that life begins at birth. They argued back and forth for a while and then they turned to their Jewish friend and asked her, "When do you think life begins?"
The Jewish lady paused thoughtfully and then said, "When they graduate from medical school."
Jesus was raised to be a doctor (or possibly a lawer).
