Are you suggesting that the mass-energy that makes up our universe did NOT have a beginning, that it was eternal? If so, how do you reconcile this with our universe having a beginning?
Our Universe exists at every single point in the past time direction, but there are a finite number of them. There is no point in time where the Universe does not exist.

Eternity only needs to be open at one end. When the Bible talks about eternal punishment, for example, it means without end not without beginning.
