Velikovsky was a genius who made Albert Einstein pale in comparison.
Well let's see:
1. Einstein.
- Supporters: virtually the entire scientific community, barring a few crackpots.
- Detractors: a few religious fundamentalists, who want science to fit a bronze age story.
- Evidence: immensely in favor - eg, every one of billions of journeys with a SatNav shows Einstein's theories to be correct.
2. Velikovsky
- Supporters: a few religious fundamentalists, who want science to fit a bronze age story.
- Detractors: virtually the entire scientific community, barring a few crackpots.
- Evidence: immensely against - eg, every large ice core drilled since his book fails to support Velikovsky's theories.
Who to believe, who to believe.....
Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?
