Footprinrs with avian features had been discovred on 2002, it has also been discovered that the species was capable of flight but recently a team of scientis disagrreed on the date based on radiometric dating. The footprints are placed in the Eocene.

Not too sure what you attempt here, but it is general practise that anything found running contrary to the findings of science is very intensively investigated by lots of specialists to see what exactly is happening, who is right or wrong and what the most likely scenario would be.
Those specialists got more data and more accurate dates on exactly when those prints were imprinted or 'made'.
Now it has to go through the peer-review system, effectively starting at publication of the results of that particular study.
Edited by Pressie, : Spelling mistake. Changed 'perticular' to 'particular'.

What would be the controversy based on the new dates?

What is the big surprise?
I'm not at all sure what it is that you find surprising about the article?
We know that birds exist today and that bird like theropods existed as long ago as the Triassic period so what exactly do you find so unusual?

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

There is no controversy. The new date fits nicely with the fossil record.
