Re: Not anywhere near on-topic
I did ask, but the Admin. blocked it. So unless it is unblocked I am gonna have to come up with a new opening statement. If you want to start with your own opening statement/question then feel free to do so because this might take me an hour or so.

Re: Not anywhere near on-topic
Please, you go ahead. I'm an archaeologist, so I have a lot of patience.
I am interested in your view of the relationship between a global flood and ice ages, as that was the original topic. If you could, please address what you see as the time frame for each.
Thanks!

Yeah, I heard that you are an archeologist. That's good because then you might be able to tell me why an Ice Age would be impossible when the earth is already covered in water (especially when you consider that a lot of the precipitation that would have fallen during the flood would have been snow due to the low temperatures caused by having 100% cloud cover)

Floods and glaciers
Yeah, I heard that you are an archeologist. That's good because then you might be able to tell me why an Ice Age would be impossible when the earth is already covered in water (especially when you consider that a lot of the precipitation that would have fallen during the flood would have been snow due to the low temperatures caused by having 100% cloud cover)
Ice ages were not only possible, there have been several, perhaps five, of them.
The most recent ice age has probably extended for well over two million years, with a number of advances and retreats. The most recent glacial maximum was some 15-17,000 years ago (depending on location), and we have been in a retreat since then. That's good, as there were two to three miles of ice along the northern parts of the US and throughout much of Canada.
However, there is no evidence that the earth has been entirely covered with water at any time in the last few hundred million years, and certainly not during the most recent ice age.
As for 100% cloud cover forcing snow, I think you'll have to explain that better, perhaps with some references.
It might also help if you could specify a date for the global flood. A lot of biblical scholars focus in on the period of about 4,350 years ago. Is this something you agree with, or do you have a different date in mind?

Re: Floods and glaciers
Alright now I've got a couple more questions: How do we know how many Ice Ages there were, and what tells us that there even were any? And (with the exception of carbon dating) how do we know how old the universe is?

Re: Floods and glaciers
This is a debate thread, not a tutorial.
What you are asking can easily be found on the interwebs if you just do a basic search.
For example, a brief search would show that Carbon-14 dating has nothing to do with the age of the universe. That method only extends back about 50,000 years. Here is a good reference:
Radiometric Dating: A Christian Perspective by Dr. Roger C. Wiens.
