As far as I know (much emphasis on that) everyone is either black and white on it, I see science is just how God wanted to make the world, and from the very little of it I've seen it is incredibly beautiful and highly complex art, the universe as a whole is God's art gallery that he wants us to see and explore on our own. What is everyone's thought on that?

Not the greatest PNT, but it seemed like a worthy minor topic, and I offhand couldn't find a suitable existing topic to direct michael? to.

Art is subjective as is religion. It is science that attempts to reveal knowledge through objective truths. If God exist I am more impressed with his command of organic chemistry.

I think that I might phrase it differently. I would say that the universe is the art work of God, and that science is our best effort to understand the physical aspects of that work of art.
As I've said in other threads I think that we should view science as a natural theology.

He has told you, O man, what is good ; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8

Well, if the universe is an art gallery, it's one of the avant-garde kind which is filled with mantraps that kill the patrons. The Dadaists had nothing on God.

Pursuing Knowledge
Science is mankind's systematic method of gaining knowledge of the world around them.
God is mankind's way of explaining the unknown.
Art makes me think of something that is static. A "snapshot" of a moment. Our planet is ever changing; bringing beauty and danger.
It can be a dangerous "art gallery" to explore.
Beautiful But Deadly Animals

Too broad. The universe as a whole is a lifeless and colorless emptyness.
I think from our perspective, a better art project would be just the Earth.

You fundamentalists always insist on taking that story literally.

The black bits are there for contrast. What color would you like the background of the universe to be, beige?

As far as I know (much emphasis on that) everyone is either black and white on it, I see science is just how God wanted to make the world,
Religion is a search for answers and science is a search for questions.
If I take your meaning correctly, though, I agree that there is no conflict between science and religion. Science should be seen as a tool that allows you to understand the universe. If you choose to ascribe the creation of the universe to a God then that is your choice.
...the universe as a whole is God's art gallery that he wants us to see and explore on our own.
Or not.
I think you should try to make the world the way that you wish it was but, at the same time, you should be keenly aware of the way that it really is.

No, a black background is fine; its the lack of much going on in our visual spectrum that makes me think the Universe as a whole isn't much of a God's Art Project for us. At least, compared to the Earth and all its glory.

You're right, the universe as a whole isn't too visually interesting. But perhaps God has different definitions of "art" and "beauty" than humans - especially as He probably doesn't depend on sense organs like "eyes" and "hands" the way we do. Maybe He finds beauty in the elegance of mathematics, or the intricacy of subatomic particles and their interactions.
Also, I'm quite pleased to have found this thread, in particular because I've always thought charts of isotopes of the elements - like this one - look just like a stroke from some celestial paintbrush:

"The universe is a lot more complicated than you might think, even if you start from a position of thinking that it's pretty damn complicated to begin with." - Douglas Adams

Universe Not For Man. Man for God's Universe

Welcome to EvC. First off, I and other members hope that you're not just another one poster who registers in just to drop off the OP and log out.
Your topic is a good one. One must remember that this planet, called Planet Earth, is a miniscule dot relative to the infinite cosmos and expanse of the Universe.
God would not have disigned this Universe for one tiny dot in his Universe. It was not designed to show anyone anywhere anything.
It was designed for his plesure, purpose, plans and glory.
I say designed, because the infinite Universe in which infinite Jehovah god dwells is not a created entity. It was never created, being infinite.
