Re: The Science Of The Matter.
No scientist is a creationist? What about Newton?
"Is" is present tense. Newton's dead and therefore not eligible.
Whatever his beliefs about God and the Bible (and he was a pretty weird one) he did not attempt to base his scientific work on those beliefs, as today's "creation scientists" do. Well, maybe his alchemy, but it's certainly true for the parts of his work that have survived the years.

Re: The Science Of The Matter.
Hi again OpticalIllusions,
No scientist is a creationist? What about Newton?
What about Newton? Creationism (as popularly used) did not exist then.
Why do atheists think they get to decide who is a scientist and who isn't? ...
They don't. Who is or is not a scientist is decided by whether or not the person in question does actual validated and reviewed science, and what field of study is involved.
... Aren't all humans basically scientists trying to understand the nature of the universe? ...
That makes them philosophers, not scientists. To be a scientist you have to DO science, test concept against objective evidence and be committed to discarding falsified concepts.
... If there are no creationist scientists, then who created scientists?
Education, application of knowledge, particularly the scientific method, peer review and testing of concepts and consensus on concepts that have explanatory and predictive ability as demonstrate via testing with objective evidence.
Getting a PhD doesn't make you a scientist, it prepares you to become a scientist, but you still need to DO science to reach the category of scientist.
Enjoy.

Re: The Science Of The Matter.

Where did Newton insert supernatural mechanisms into his scientific explanations?
Why do atheists think they get to decide who is a scientist and who isn't?
The scientific community decides what is and is not science. This community is made up of people from every walk of life including christians, muslims, hindus, and atheists. This isn't an atheist conspiracy. The scientific community is full of theists of every stripe.
If there are no creationist scientists, then who created scientists?
There are scientists who are creationists. However, I have yet to see a scientist who has successfully used creationism to do science. There are creationists who are more than capable of keeping their creationist beliefs out of their science.
As to who created scientists, that would be their parents. You have learned about the birds and the bees, have you not?

Poe
Once again, I should like to suggest the OpticalIllusions is just a troll trying to wind us up. No creationist is quite that stupid in quite that way. This is not to say that he isn't a drooling moron, because clearly he is, but I don't believe that he is a creationist drooling moron.

Re: Poe, perhaps.
No creationist is quite that stupid in quite that way.
I'm fairly certain that a search of this very forum would uncover evidence to the contrary. Perhaps the forum is being trolled, but the POE hypothesis is that a true troll is essentially indistinguishable from an extremely ardent fundamentalist.

The apathy of the people is enough to make every statue leap from its pedestal and hasten the resurrection of the dead. William Lloyd Garrison
