Weird effect of music
The soundtrack of the move "Sunshine" (Dir Danny Boyle) by John Murphy is some of the most evocative and beautiful music I've come across. One piece in particular, used around the death of the captain and again when Cillian Murphy is detaching the payload and jumping on to it. It's called Adagio in D Minor.

I knew I loved that piece and bought it on iTunes, then sat down to listen to it, full volume. Thank God I was at home! Within minutes tears were streaming down my cheeks, not sad tears, not happy tears. I can't describe or explain what happened, except that I seemed to be "feeling" the music rather than hearing it. I had a physical feeling in the pit of my stomach that rose and fell as the music rose and fell.
It's the most extreme reaction I've ever had to a piece of music and I'm still surprised and baffled by the power of it.

A lot of Tool songs are moving, but this one particularly so. It's all about Maynard's dead mum, I believe.

I'm the Slime
That must be a later reunion concert - Both Little Steven and Nils Lofgren.
My reply (not a commentary on Bruce):
About a week ago, I saw this for the first time since seeing the original broadcast back in 1976.
I'd like to see this run as some sort of political advertisement commentary advertisement (or something like that).

Thanks, Trixie. Yes, it's beautiful and moving; one of the best of this thread. At last we agree on something.

Re: Weird effect of music
If you scout around youtube, you should find the clip from the film that goes with it, the death of the captain. The images combined with the music are typical Danny Boyle or even Tarantino, a very perfect match.

The Happy Palaeontologist Song
From the Evidence for a recent flood thread;
Dr Adequate writes:
It is demonstrable that many fossils were not rapidly buried. When they are, the skeletons are found intact, and paleontologists get all excited and start singing the Happy Paleontologist Song.
One happy palaeontologist song coming up!
Although I have to say, I like Meet the Elements better.

Ian Britt
My wife saw this on Parenthood last week. Actually quite good. I just purchased a bunch of his music directly from his website. Looks like he is trying to not get caught up in the whole music industry scam.
Have any of you limeys seen or heard of him?

Lyrics:
A scourge on the world from the earliest days
Christ, his church and his sinister ways
Starter of wars, Instigator of crimes
Despoiler of cultures, Destroyer of minds
More people have died in the name of Christ
Than any other in the history of life
You kill all who oppose your perfidious might
A religion of conquest born in black light
Our father who art in heaven
Corruption be thy name
You blind your people with lies
False prophet your only gain
Thy kingdom come and be done
Your time is now at an end
The veil is slowly being lifted
Your past you must try to defend
They prey on our children so young and naive
These pedophile bastards they are a disease
They preach about love, or so I am told
But the love that they practice is twisted and cold.

Joy
The Sundays' first album remains one of the greatest records ever cut.
