Yes, they're both huge fans of "The Big Bang Theory"
I just started watching this show and while I do find it charming, there seem to be a few things I can't seem to get past. 1: "Leonard" constantly stares off camera when speaking to someone (as opposed to, ya know, making eye contact with them like normal people do) as if he is blatantly reading from the cue cards or some such. 2: some of the dialogue seems very forced (example: when the broad next door corners one of them to blather on about her problems).
Granted, I am only 5 episodes in to the first season so hopefully these issues sort themselves out.... or are they part of the allure of the show??

This, I think, is an artistic choice by the actor, Johnny Galecki. It is a mannerism that I have seen many nerdy geek types exhibit during interpersonal communication.
Yea, I get that and would understand if it were Sheldon, who seems borderline autistic to me. I totally grasp the show concept and have zero problem following along (which prompted my mother to call me a fucking nerd because it's way over her head), but it just seems unnatural. I mean, neither one of them is a neckbeard. But Leonard seems like a normal person who is smart as fuck and has nerdy friends. Perhaps it is because I still see him as David from Roseanne. Having two other cast members from Roseanne doesn't help that either....

Overheard in the clinic
So, I was donating plasma today and one of the nurses is, I believe, Indian (the kind from India, no offense). Their wireless internet was not working and one of the other nurses came over and informed her that it would be turned back on soon. Her response? "It looks like the prayers to my elephant god worked". I was baffled. I don't know much about Hinduism, but it struck me as being very much like someone saying "looks like the prayers to my bearded sky daddy worked". I thought it was funny as hell because ALL of her co-workers are caucasian.
Racist? Religious intolerance? Take your pick. I'm sure on some level I am an ass for laughing or she is an ass for saying it. Either way, fuck that was funny.
