I see you are in Madison and list your occupation as physicist. Are you a student or professor at UWMad?
My son just received his assoc. from UW Fox Valley and will be going to Madison in January to begin work on a degree in physics.
Hello, Asgara
I am actually a student who tries to go in and out for my PhD, I have had my masters for quite a while and decided I should apply and try to create a thesis for my PhD. (This is not as daunting as it may seem, since usually this means finding a thesis advisor, who will simply assign you a research problem or include you in their experimental work.) So here I am now.
That is very cool that your son recieved his associate degree, just let him know when becoming a physicist isn't all mathematics, it creativity too, I'm sure he has plenty of it.
Einstein once said that behind every great theory there is a simple physical picture that even lay people can understand. In fact, he said, if a theory does not have a simple underlying picture, then the theory is probably worthless. The important thing is the physical picture; math is nothing but bookkeeping.
