But if you need it, then use the chat forum to make contacts to then communicate by PM links

Re: Chat forum?
Kinda goes against the whole purpose of "chat" then.... Plus, IMO, it would clutter up the forum as a whole. People would start "chat" threads needlessly. Do I see a need for it? Not personally, but apparently there is a want for it from other members. The only use I could see for it is because it is difficult/obscure to see the (1)message blinking.
I don't need privacy, I wouldn't post anything that would need privacy.
Perhaps others would, though.

Hi hooah212002,

Yeah, the only time I've used chat is at work where it was used as a "watson, i need you" kind of message.
... it is because it is difficult/obscure to see the (1)message blinking.
Perhaps the location is wrong -- what if it was under your avatar?

message REPLY ALL function?
Hi Percy,
Hey Percy
This recently occurred to me:
Reply ALL function?
Would it be possible to have a "reply all" (or reply multiple) function for when you get a number of replies to one message?
This may need to be initiated within the post that gets the multiple replies, and could be where the "you have not yet responded" link is?
Probably a bit more difficult would be to have an option in the reply program to "add another Reply to" which could be a toggle under the "Reply to: Message xxx by {Y}" where you can pick among the others that reply to the same post? then you would have
Replies to: Message xxx by {A}
            Message yyy by {B}
[bgcolor=tan]  select another reply to ◊  [/bgcolor]
It would likely need to be similar to a general reply (where you can see all the previous posts) but with the posts restricted to those that replied or that are selected for the response being shown (ie 2 or 3 posts).
The link/s from the response to each of the replies could still look the same (replies to this message), but at the bottom it list the "ALL" posts under "This message is a reply to:"
Enjoy.

one question: when you make a reply the system automatically adds "Re:" to the subtitle ...

Email clients no longer even do this (not even the atrocious Outlook ffs).... no more endless "FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: Funny cat lol" I couldn't think of a worse idea for a forum.

Re: message CC?
Structuring database tables and formulating efficient queries with the current structure of a single reply-to and multiple replies is already very challenging. Multiple reply-to's and CC's would sort of be the concrete slab that broke the camel's back.

Polemic
Can someone help me to understand the meaning of polemic? I have looked up the definition but I appear unable to grasp it.... For example: if someone were to accuse me of being polemic, that would mean ____? This is hypothetical, of course.

Re: Polemic
That you spoke or wrote in support of your position and in opposition to someone else. It also carries the connotation that you were either effective or at least presented a strong case.

Re: Polemic
Hmm. Ok. I guess I had trouble understanding because from the phonology of the word, it seems to carry a negative connotation. The main reason I asked is because I have been listening to a lot of the Non-Prophets and Atheist Experience podcasts and Matt Dillahunty claims that people "accuse" him of being overly polemic, so I took it to mean something more negative and that preconception didn't jive with the definition.

Re: Polemic
Yes in that example it is negative. Polemic is modified by adding "overly".

Ok, then I am again confused. How could the act of simply arguing ones point be construed as negative?
