Well, no they cannot PM or even get in to read their own PMs.

That sucks, I stand corrected.

Re: Message system
Can suspended members send and receive messages?
I'm not sure, but I think not.
Originally, they could. But then a suspended spammer sent spam messages to every member.

Re: Message system
It has some good points, for example you can PM a suspended member which turns on that blinky message light and the person can do nothing to turn it off.

Red on blue
Does anyone else have trouble reading red text on a blue background like Moose’s essential links reminder? Does anyone know why that happens? It seems to me that there is good contrast between the two colours but it looks fuzzy to me.

Even with my glasses on it is difficult to read.

Not as bad when in bold

The bold still shows up better for the red even in a black box. Looked worse in a white box.

Let me turn these around:

Now I can answer.
Yes, I do know why this happens. Your eyes are getting old, Dogmafood! It is time for tri-focals, ol' chap.
I know because with my old, tired eyes everything looks fuzzy. My glasses make it all ok. Red on blue is not the greatest contrast on the color wheel but to my technology enhanced vision it looks passably fine.

Try a pink answer (it is actually closer to magenta but easier to type)
Testing pink on black
Testing pink on blue
Testing pink on green

Re: Red on blue
One thing we were taught in HTML class was that our ability to deal with the contrast between different back- and fore-grounds of different colors changes as we get older ... it gets worse. I'm sure there are physical/physiological/psychological explanations for exactly why that is, but the bottom line is that some combinations just don't work. For example, I always found that yellow on blue (like Air Force and Navy signs) worked just fine, but that was 20 years ago. Recently, somebody on this forum complained about that color combination and I also now found it a bit harsh on the eyes.
In HTML/Web/GUI style guides out there there must be a list somewhere that recommends which combinations to use and which ones to avoid.
And, yes, I do have trouble reading red on blue.

Re: Red on blue
Hi dwise1,
Recently, somebody on this forum complained about that color combination and I also now found it a bit harsh on the eyes.
yeah, that was one of my posts.
Personally I like tan, gold and orange as stand-alone colors and rarely use red, green or brown
I also like blue or black with  white ([bgcolor]) or  tan backgrounds [blockcolor])
Enjoy.

This is one of my most used manuals:

People take the piss when they see it on my desk - but within minutes they are thumbing through it.
And then I spend the rest of my time fetching it back from their desk.

Actually the contrast is relatively low because they have roughly the same luminance. It's hard to read because only a subset of the cells in your retina can perceive the difference.
Flip your color space over to grayscale and you'll see that they're not so different at all.
