Still the same problem for me.
Does - Error: Dispatch table lookup failure, control does not exist: Search - Mean anything to you? Could it conceivably be something linked to my user account? Just trying to think of things that are common to both home and work EvC access.

Hi Percy
I never felt like an arrow was quite the right icon. How about a number instead of an arrow for the number of unanswered replies? While creating a new message - every post in that thread is displayed in the box below the input box.
This can be 1000's of posts, which eventually starts making my browser unhappy as more and more memory is used.

This was always a feature of the general reply, while the message reply only shows the one message. Also a good argument for limiting the length of threads (there used to be a 300 post limit). by our ability to understand Rebel American Zen Deist ... to learn ... to think ... to live ... to laugh ... to share. Ah - I hadn't noticed this difference previously.

Rather than limiting thread lengths, I would prefer to limit the number of 'past posts' displayed when making a 'general post'.

The "d" is the default favicon for dBoard, used for new installations. When I initially flipped over to the new code there was a bug that made it unable to find the favicon for EvC Forum, so it defaulted to the dBoard favicon. That bug has been fixed. Ah ok, but now I'm just seeing the IE "e"... Here's another thing: The links in the email notification I received point to: http://www.my email provider.org/mail/Forums.php instead of the evcforum website. The message links n'everything are like this: http://www.my email provider.org/mail/dm.php?control=msg&m=624308. Keep up the good work!

Well, the Best Buy comment was just a personal aside. I've just noticed them to be VERY overpriced and there customer service is for shit. If you have a Microcenter near by, or a a CompUSA (because they were bought by TigerDirect and give Internet prices in store), I would definitely recommend them over anywhere. Having said that, I sometimes never follow my own advice and end up buying stuff at the store because I am impatient and can't stand waiting for stuff to ship.
Glad to hear you got the necessary equipment and solved your problem. "Why don't you call upon your God to strike me? Oh, I forgot it's because he's fake like Thor, so bite me" -Greydon Square

This was occurring for general replies to the thread and not replies to a specific message. This is fixed. Only page 1 is displayed now, along with the standard links to the other pages, which is the way it used to be. Thanks for reporting this! Edited by Admin, : Grammar.

Jon writes: Also, I noticed that the first page in a thread, where I come when I first click on the topic from the forum page, is no longer highlighted blue in the page lists at the upper right of the screen. All the other pages highlight when I am on them, but not page 1. This is fixed - thanks for the bug report!

This should be fixed, but I won't know for sure until someone replies to me. Notifications aren't sent for replies to yourself. I appreciate you reporting this, thanks!

nwr writes: 1: There is a "Reply" button showing for most posts, even though that account had its reply ability disabled. Of course, I tested it, and was not allowed to reply. So this is mainly a cosmetic problem, and perhaps not too serious. I think this has always been this way, but it's a good idea so I've put it on the todo list.
2: If I click on a thread where I had not read any post, then all posts are presented in a single page. The profile settings (20 posts per page) is ignored. After I have read the thread, if I go back into that thread again, I then see 20 posts per page. Your description is slightly different than what I observed, but I think this is fixed. Please let me know if you still see a problem. Thanks for reporting these! Edited by Admin, : Grammar.

There were three reasons for moving from Perl as an implementation language to PHP:
I'm curious about the last item, better performance. I've performed various simple performance tests between Perl and PHP over the years, the last a few months ago, and I've found that they are very similar. PHP seems to have a slight edge in MySQL access, but only by a few percent that wouldn't be perceptible to a user. PHP is measurably faster referencing associative arrays, maybe by around 20% if I recall correctly, but the code isn't referencing associative arrays most of the time, so in a normal program this impact would be tiny. But PHP is rumored to scale better, which means that it performs better when there are multiple simultaneous accesses. Simultaneous accesses is a more difficult test to set up, so I never did this test. So I'm curious, for those who think they can tell whether the performance is now better, worse, or the same, could you post a short note to this thread? Thanks!

I'm unable to duplicate the problem in my own copy of IE8, but maybe we have different subversions. I'm using 8.0.6001.18702.
Do you have VNC installed at home or work? If not, would you be willing to install it? It can be found at RealVNC - Remote access software for desktop and mobile | RealVNC. It would allow me access to your desktop. About the specific error message you're receiving, yes, I'm familiar with it. It means that IE is not handling the <button> tag properly. There's some Javascript code that programs around this problem and that works for IE6-9 that I know of.

Error: Dispatch table lookup failure, control does not exist: Search This sounds very familiar. Wasn't this the same error I saw in EI8 when I had "Compatibility Mode" set? Found it: Message 379 Not saying this is your issue but the error message is similar. Hope it helps.
