Money Isn't a False God

I lack the wisdom and time to untangle this Gordian Knot - they happen so fast!I have formed an opinion that seems only slightly more likely than not of being correct, so I shall keep it to myself. I do think some subtle nuances of differing interpretations are in play regarding what constitutes worship, as well as its power to transform the objects of its attention into holy entities, whether false or not. Possibly this thread's participants are underestimating the potential for the interplay of meanings to contribute to confusion and misunderstandings and so are blaming other participants rather than the topic.But I will monitor this thread for a while beginning today. I need to better understand this discussion in order to better moderate, so a little clarification would be helpful.I understood Crash to be arguing that the worship of money made money into a divine entity like any other god, such as Jehovah, Allah, Thor or Zeus.And I understood PD to be arguing that the worship of money was metaphorical and not an indication that anyone actually assigned any divinity to money.But Straggler is arguing that no one argued that worshiping money made it into a divine entity, and PD isn't arguing that Crash did, so I must not be following this very well. Can someone explain?--Percy

If the differing opinions derive from scripture then it should help the discussion if someone were to quote the relevant scripture for both Mammon and the provision against worshiping false gods.

Much of the recent discussion has been about Mammon, which is mentioned in Matthew and Luke. Crash seemed to be basing his arguments on scripture when he discussed Mammon, and I haven't seen either Matthew or Luke quoted in this thread, though you mention them in the OP. Seems like taking a closer look at what they actually said would be helpful.
