Before I responded to this, I first wanted to see if there really was any evidence, something documented that actually gave us some information about the issue of light and smoke in Hell.
I searched for something that might be verifiable or at least falsifiable and the best documentation that I could come up with was from Marquis Don writing in Neuvo Yorkus Helios.
I would like to offer that now as a basis for at least determining the characteristics of Hell.
From Neuvo Yorkus Helios

And no evidence has been offered in this whole thread that even hints there is such a thing as hell.

For what it's worth, Revelation 20:1-3 ASV says this:
Revelation 20:1-3:
quote:
1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,
3 and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years should be finished: after this he must be loosed for a little time.
I'm not making any determination on this. When I read that chapter black holes come to mind.
Where is a bottomless pit mentioned in your quote?
