Belief?
How many people here believe there is life on other planets?
Belief?
As Heinlein noted, "Belief gets in the way of learning."
Unlike religionists, scientists tend to follow the evidence where it leads, not rely on 3,000 year old texts written by goat-herders and other mystics.
Life on other planets is probable, but there is little evidence either way. I'll wait until there is. Unlike you; you appear to firmly "believe" such life can't exist. (Those goat-herders again?)
What will you do if such life is found? Will that be the end of your belief, or will you just deny it as religionists tend to do with inconvenient evidence?

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.

Well, first off most casino...
You started this thread. Are you going to address any of the comments we made, or are you just going to waste our time with off-topic issues?

Laughable?
Just look at how laughable coyote's response is:
Unlike religionists, scientists tend to follow the evidence where it leads, not rely on 3,000 year old texts written by goat-herders and other mystics.
Life on other planets is probable, but there is little evidence either way. I'll wait until there is. Unlike you; you appear to firmly "believe" such life can't exist.
He is trying to condemn ME for not believing that life on other planets exists! Which is odd, not only because I never made a comment about whether I believe it does or not, but more pertinently because he spends his whole existence on this forum stating unequivocally that a God surely doesn't exist! As do 90 % of the evolutionists here. Some may be agnostic on the issue, but even those who are agnostic about it don't go around saying "well, I don't know, but it sure seems likely, or probable, or you would think so...."all of the types of comments you would get when you ask them about life on other planets.
There is positive evidence for life on planets. Our sample is limited to one right now--Earth--but that could change any day.
There is no evidence for deities of any kind. Lots of belief, but no evidence.
Now who's position is laughable?

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.

Re: Huh?????
First, we are talking about likelihood, get it? Just because you can think of one thing that could possibly resemble order that was possibly not intelligently crafted (you do realize that crystal are made of atoms, and predictable molucular structure and they have properties of positive and negative charges and a whole host of other forces which have order aren't you?)...
But you can't show that the "order" was from intelligence. That is a logical leap far beyond what the evidence shows.
...and this does nothing to change the bulk of our experience being that order is more likely from intelligence.
Again, far beyond the evidence.
You are just reciting your catechism as if that were evidence. (See tagline below.)
That doesn't make it in the world of science. Perhaps you should stick to religious apologetics where the sort of evidence you prefer is the norm.

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.

Economy
Our economy is based on (cheap) energy.
Energy replaces manual labor in many areas now, allowing a few laborers to do the work of many.
It would seem logical that spacefaring societies would have access to better sources of energy than we now have.

Re: Economy
With access to that much energy, manual labor is much less necessary.
But this does remind me of an old story, titled "To Serve Man."

Religious belief does not constitute scientific evidence, nor does it convey scientific knowledge.
