I'll join. While I like many posters at EvC, mark's posts always seem grounded in evidence and logic with very few slips into aggressive language.
He makes me feel downright unworthy as a poster sometimes.

The important difference between Creationists and evolutionists isn't their take on God, but their general level of understanding and logical ability.

Sidelined hasn't been one of my favorite posters, but I do really like this one. I think it might be fairly close to my own views.

A reply to Mammuthus - I quote paragraph 1 of 3:
quote:
Snuffulufagus,
If I really concentrate on your posts is your response going to be more than a small beer malleted resecently near you? I know you have diverse interests and I would be willing to get into this eVpe thing with you but I need to know if educate myself thru your resources as per the above will this puzzle of c/e be more or less than Gould's p750 "But this puzzlement did sometimes break through to overt statement. For example, in 1903, H.F. Cleland, a palenotlogists's paleontologist - that is, a respected expert on local minutiae, but not a general theorist - wrote of the famous Devonian Hamilton section in New York State (which has since become the "type" for an important potential extension of punctuated equilibrium to the integrated behavior of entrie faunas, the hypothesis of "coordinated stasis" - see pp. 916-922): "In a section such as that of the Hamilton formation at Cayuga Lake...if the statement natura non facit saltum is granted, one should, with some confidence, expect to find - at least some - evidences of evolution."
I think I actually was able to follow much more that usually, a perhaps even get something out of this one. And I loved the opening "Snuffulufagus", which really got my attention.
I don't know about paragraphs 2 and 3.
Cheers,
Moose

"fair enough"
I am afraid that this is going to sound like I am making fun. I am not. This is may not seem like much to some. But after having the abiogenesis and evolution mixup brought up again and again this, in comparison, impressive.

A very clear statment of Holmes' postion. And a useful framework for anyone to clearify where they stand.
And a generally good example for us all to follow in clear thinking and laying out ones point of view.

Thanks Ned. For some reason I have been more lucid and concise in my writings on abortion than other topics, even if all my other writing is excellent as well... just kidding. That was perhaps the first post I felt really good about directly after writing it (ie I didn't feel I needed to tweak it). I'm going to have to strive to match it's quality in all future posts.

Another clear, well thought out post.
I hope I'm not too badly biased because I agree with him. I think that whether you do or not you must agree that this lays out a clear point of view and offers some good reasons for that POV.
Thanks again, Holmes, another reason for hanging around here.
