Part 1 is here
Straggler's message 1 of part 1:
quote: I think the topic theme is profound enough to want the quality on theme messages not be buried in other excessively frivolous messages. That is what I saw happening at the end of part 1. Adminnemooseus

the Big Antlered Dude in the 10,000 Paul Bunyan footprints region suggests:
This thread is intended as an opportunity for a bit of self-deprecating fun. Maybe some serious reflection if the mood so takes you. Especially if you have an EVC "journey" to tell. Indeed! a thread for each of our WORST posts? Step right up & confess! Disembodied voice intones sonorously "This was my darkest hour...." To start off, in utmost Douglas R. Hofstadter fashion, I'll readily admit right here (or at least claim!) that this was my worst post..... - xongsmith, 5.7d

Thread What IS Science And What IS NOT Science? was probably where I first flexed my EvC credentials in any significant way.
Reading back on that I am struck by how reasonable, non-inflammatory and generally nice I was. Having said that I think the arguments are pretty consistent with those I put forward now. Just with less sarcasm, mockery and general disparagement. Maybe something for a jaded "old timer" to learn from.....?

In my first post here I denied the Big Bang: Message 20. Of course, unlike others who've come and done the same, I sat and listened and learned and soon my ignorance was releaved: Message 25, and Message 49.
I cannot believe I ever thought such a thing... good thing I only thought it for a few days ... too bad I publicized it . Jon "Can we say the chair on the cat, for example? Or the basket in the person? No, we can't..." - Harriet J. Ottenheimer "Dim bulbs save on energy..." - jar

I made some dumb post asking why creationists don't just try an experiment to see if a fossil can be made in a short amount of time to which RAZD replied because creationists don't do experiments. I think people weren't certain which side of the fence I was on. Rob was sending me PMs warning me I was in the lion's den and RAZD was the hardest one of all - that I better watch out for him.
I still find it incredible that anyone would doubt science - talk about kicking against the pricks. I didn't have a stance one way or the other about evolution and never studied it until I became aware of ERV evidence and chromosome two (about the same time I stumbled onto this forum). That I could accept as final proof beyond any reasonable doubt. The whole thing is fascinating to me now but I did not like the idea growing up, not sure why.

The first post I made at EvC that I can find shows me just as confused then as I am now. It was I'm not sure I understand what the issue is... in the thread "Debunking the Creationist Earth-Moon separation nonsense."
I fear that even today I read many posts here at EvC and all I can say is "Huh?" Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped! |

Somehow I happened to stumble upon the original topic, I thought this would be interesting (re)reading for the membership.
Part 1 is very interesting, but it totally fell apart at the end. This part 2 never amounted to much. Adminnemooseus

What is the best thread you have seen here at EvC? Do you know of any "must read" topics? Ones where the quality of debate was exceptionally noteworthy or the arguments made so utterly comprehensive that a seemingly unresolvable issue could be considered resolved? Any that have made you drastically change your mind about something? Any threads where you think your own performance was so fantastic that you would like to bring them to everyone elses attention? {Content hidden. This message is now message 1 of the new topic ""Must Read" Topics". - Adminnemooseus} Edited by Adminnemooseus, : New topic started with this message.

Here is my first post, about 4 days after registering. Unsurprisingly, it was Peter Borger who brought me to post. It was my Junior year at WSU.
Post 121 of IC & the Cambrian Explosion for Ahmad...cont.. Peter,PB: THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHAT THE GUToB PREDICTS. It is however NOT evolutionism. Evolve = slowly developing, like a story plot develops. It is from Latin: evolvere. DB: First of all, the word "evolution" is from the latin root -evolutio- which means "to unroll". After reading your posts I begin to wonder if you are not a preformationist in disguise? Edited by Adminnemooseus, : Add link.
