Re: BEEEEEEEEEERRRRR!!!!
Man Huntard, I envy you....I'd love to go to Germany and drink some of those beers. I'd really love to head over to Belgium and try the original 7 trapist ales from the monasteries. I think I can get 5 here in the States but two of them are only served on premise, brewed by the monks there.
Right now I'm drinking a Stoudts Triple Abbey....super high ABV but great summer ale.

I usually go with one bottle of pale Rolling Rock a day. It's a good cheap beer, about ten bucks a 12 bottle pack. Aluminum can residue, not good for the health. Sometimes I mix part of it with a tomatoe juice herbal mix that my wife does up.

I'm a beer philistine.
I won't drink Asswiper-Douche products, seven years in St. Louis put me off that shit for life.
Mostly I drink the Champagne of Beers. The best is when my friend and I split a 40; drives the wife nuts! We were surprised to find out that beer from a 40 is actually better, in addition to being ridiculously cheap ($1.79).

I'm a Mormon, but I can participate in this discussion, because I know a guy who drank a couple beers once.
I went to dinner at a bar with my lab-mates during a conference awhile back, and listened to the waiter describe to my lab-mates all twelve obscure beers they had on tap using a broader vocabulary than I know from my two languages combined, along with an ad-libbed table of cross references to better-known beers that this bar, for whatever reason, did not have on tap.
I suddenly realized that there is a whole other world out there (the "beer world") of which I know absolutely nothing. I thought My former sense of culture for having tasting a half dozen varieties of cream soda seemed so tiny in comparison.
I am still recovering from the existential crisis that this caused me.

You guys put me in the mood to try something new.
On the table: Ambergeddon. Normally, I do prefer anything non-american, but I've come to the conclusion that good beer doesn't travel well. I personally can really taste the difference in, say Warsteiner, in Germany and here. It is much mroe noticeable in Guinness. I still enjoy Guinness here, but not nearly as much as in Europe. I hear the closer to Ireland you get, the better/more fresh/smoother it tastes.
*
I bought this for no reason other than the kick ass skull. It is brewed right here in Wisconsin, so freshness is almost guaranteed.
I also bought a sixer of Woodchuck Hard Cider. Usually I prefer Hornsby's, but alas, they had none.

Educate the brethren. Moderate beer is healthier than pop. My brethren haven't grasped that fact either.
Reminds me of my time eating in the cafeterias of Loma Linda. You could pig out on pie, but God Forbid there should be pepper on the table lest your animal passions be inflamed per EGW's ramblings.
Beer-wise, I am currently infatuated with Devil's Elbow IPA from Howe Sound Brewing. Widely available in coastal B.C., not sure about elsewhere. It is a big, hoppy beer and not for the faint of heart .

I can never convince him to smoke out with me though, wish he would.
You should hang out with my old man, then. Not that he tokes these days (as far I know ), but he often claims to have smoked enough weed over the years to insulate a small house.
He said the last hit he took (allegedly) was sometime in the late 80s, and quit b/c the joint in question was laced with something "not nice".
He's a big fan of BBQ, too.
Have a good one.

Becks must be the proof that the Devil hates us.
How can anyone drink that stuff?
Hey JUC. Y'know, I've asked this question in the past as well. All I can really say about Beck's beer is:
Have a good one.

Re: It's Wine
Hey AZPaul3.
Wine is fine. Have you ever tried Shiraz? Or barring that, Syrah? (pretty much the same wine, different country) I like Cabernet very often, but I jump to Shiraz when I'm looking for something a bit less dry. You still get the smoky, blackberry flavors, but less of the woods and what I call "puckery-ness".
I'm with you on the Merlot and Pinot Noir. Those'll throw my dryness meter into disarray. Somewhere I read that Merlot is basically the bottom of the barrel, as it were, of wines in France (not that France is the be all and end all of winemaking by any means). Personally, I can't understand why Merlot is such a fad here...
Sorry for the OT. Back to beer...
Have a good one.

I really liked Miller High Life. Was in Florida a few years back got an ice cold twelve pack of 12 oz bottles. Had a bunch of very tasty Sam Adams (original) as well. Reading through the thread I notice a bunch of good stuff actually. Some I did'nt see:
Kirin
Asahi
Unertl Weibier
Karg Weibier
Schneider Weisse
Andechser (Bergbock Hell is my favorite but they're all good)
Augustiner (Vollbier because the Edellstoff is too sweet).
It is very difficult to get a bad beer in Mnchen.

Hello hooah,
Since you are a fan of both Guiness and Ciders, I would like to recommend my favorites to you. You will need a large glass, I usually use a 22oz or more. Pour in a bottle of Ace pear cider, about three quarters of the glass. Then use a spoon to float Guiness on top of the cider. Same as you would do if you are making a black and tan. It is called a black satin and it is very tasty. The same can be made with an apple cider and an oatmeal stout, also very good. Don't know what those are called but I like to call 'em apple oatmeal stouts. I know, not very creative

Niceeeee.

Hmmm, I wonder with what could it have been laced with in the 80's?
I've tried it, and it's gross. Tried it laced with roach spray once too (unknowingly) and that was crazy!
