Is America a Christian Nation?

Too often, when we hear "America is a Christian nation" it is to justify some Christians telling the rest of the population what they should do.

This process started back with The Enlightenment, which the founding fathers studied and emulated. They passed on the legacy of The Enlightenment, not the legacy of the Dark Ages.That means we don't need, after thousands of years, or hundreds of thousands of years, to kowtow to the various shamans for fear of being burned at the stake, the Inquisition, or the like.
