Peg On Biblical Understanding
AUTHOR: Peg
FORUM: Bible Study
THREAD: Jesus: Why I believe He was a failure.
Message 307
One significant example of Peg's wisdom in arriving at conclusions in Bible study as follows:
.........you read one scripture and try to put a meaning to it rather then taking the whole bible into consideration before drawing your conclusions.
this is a fatal flaw in your reasoning on the scriptures because the bible is a coherent whole and needs to be read in whole.

Iano and Hydroglyphx, Parasomnium
Iano, Hydroglyphx, Parasomnium, in, "irrefutable Departure" thread. (And a few others)
It's only taken me about 5 months to leave EvC, and I'm almost out the door now.
But there are a few reasonable folk here in this thread, that have not been opportunistic, and have made some good points. I commend them for being open-minded, and hope they will consider what I have said without just labelling me a Jesus-freak.
I also commend Admins, such as Percy and Moose, for being tolerant and allowing me to post over the years.
.....I also thank all of my friends and family, my editor, my agent, .......

I just like it.
Also kudos to the participants of the Dawkins and "The Great Tim Tebow Fallacy" (re: pro-life advertisement) topic. Currently at message 23, there seems to have been a generally nice job done.

Dr Adequate, for saying what I was trying to.
Author: Dr Adequate
Forum: Biological Evolution
Thread: Theropods and Birds showing a change in kinds
Message #: Message 134
Sometimes someone manages to say something that you just couldn't put into words. Done very nicely by Dr Adequate, here replying to slevesque's claims of fraudulent fossil evidence. The money quote:
quote:
Based on one piece of evidence that paleontologists are professionally competent, you grasp at the conclusion that they're not; based on the fact that they are able to detect a hoax, you wish to believe that so many hoaxes have gotten by them as to entirely vitiate the evidence for bird evolution; based on the fact that (apparently) you trust them completely when they tell you that "Archaeoraptor" was a fake, you seem to be concluding that you need never trust them again; and based on the fact that the peer-review system worked perfectly, you conclude that it is flawed. And all this you base on pointing to just one occasion when you think that they got something right.

I was trying to find time to nominate Dr A for his whole string of excellent posts in this thread, so heartily seconded!
