Unsure where the cause is, but the symptom is this:
The screen where you compose your post has the response area centered. The first colum that lists the "Subject," "Message Mood," "Message," and "Options" labels is centered. Similarly, the second column that has the fields you fill in for those labels are centered. However, the "Lengthen," "Widen," and "Restore" buttons are still left-aligned whereas the actual text box where you type has been centered in the column.
Running IE8 on Vista.
This is not happening under Chrome.

My question is why in the world would Rural Rental Housing Association if Indiana (or Rrhain) use a piece of crap like vista in the first place?
But I agree. I notice the same "problem", too.

Mine has been doing that since about Thursday, and I don't have IE8.
I figured it was just Percy playing around with stuff again.

I see no problem and promise not to do it again.
Seriously, thanks for finding this.

I would say, probably the same reason I use it, it came on this PC.

Because I will never use that piece of crap known as a "Mac." Linux has its place, but I like to be able to run software that actually exists.
And with Vista improving on XP and 7 finally fixing the problem Windows has had since 95 (what? You mean you want to rearrange the buttons in the Taskbar without relaunching your programs?) there's even more to prefer.
But all that's off-topic. It seems that whatever was causing the unusual centering in IE8 has been fixed.
Thank you, Percy.

Recurring problem?
It's centered in IE 6 now as well. Was this way a couple days ago when Rrhain noticed it, then was fixed, and now is centered again.

My image is of agony, my servants rape the land

Re: Recurring problem?
Internet Explorer right up through the latest version has a bug affecting text alignment in table cells. The default is left-justified, but if the table is inside <center> tags then the text inside the table gets centered, too. The bug is only apparent with certain DOCTYPE's, and apparently Strict is one of them, which I just switched to. I was using Transitional before, but Internet Explorer has a different formatting bug with that DOCTYPE.
I've added a CSS style to force left-justification as the default for all table cells. Click refresh/reload to load the updated CSS file.

Yep, it's normal again. Thanks. Stupid IE, that's why I don't use it at home

Other pages have the same problem.
Same problem, would be my guess: The Search screen has all the stuff centered. The DB Codes help screen, too.
I went looking for other screens that might have the problem and I found that most of the links in the "Site Map" screen don't work:
Home works.
Smilies Legend goes to a page, but the page itself is broken.
HTML Quick Ref works.
None of the other links work.

Re: Other pages have the same problem.
Search should be fixed. Thanks for taking the time to check out other pages. I really appreciate this kind of help.
I gave up maintaining the site map a long time ago. There was an offer to update it one point, but nothing ever came of it.

Found another one
The login screen also has this.
