I find the list annoying at the top of the screen. I'd be happier if it were placed on the bottom. Or better yet, if it were available via a link rather than being placed on the thread view screens.

I like it!
It would be less intrusive if it was multiple columns across the page though

I like it too, but I do find it intrusive the way it looks now. Perhaps a drop-down menu would preserve the functionality without pushing the first post off the bottom of the screen.

I may be overlooking something, but I don't see the point of this feature, or it must be as a list of posters in order of activity in the thread. But why would I ever want to see one participant's contributions to a discussion only? It's like listening to half a telephone conversation. (And in most cases much less than that, actually.) It's because I hold you in high regard, WK, that I would like to know how you find it useful. Could you explain? Edited by Parasomnium, : No reason given.

I'm not sure if my input is of value, but I'll press ahead.
Obviously it is useful for admins, we can quickly take a look at the tone of participation throughout a thread for an individual member. For long discussions, I find it is useful to read all the posts of my principal opponent as a means to understanding their position as a whole which helps me understand an individual comment made in their most recent reply. If someone is making lots of posts, and is getting dog-piled, it helps me not to ask questions that person has already answered and to cut straight to addressing their answer to that question.

Because when you are having 1 thread of discussion amongst a dogpile of others it helps to be able to reduce the post to only 1 person until you can find the right point in the discussion, then you can bring the rest of the thread in to get the full context, it would be even better if you could simply screen some people out to thin the thread down.
If everyone used the reply button consistently it might not be such a problem, but since the same person often replies multiple times to one post or consolidates responses to multiple people in either a general reply or a reply to one specific person trying to follow a conversational thread through the links is not always easy. Plus I like only reading what I have written without all of the plebs cluttering the place up, nothing like a whole thread of me pontificating to remind me how great I am. Excuse me while I find a device to deflate my head. TTFN, WK

Good points, both of you. (Yes, Modulous, my esteem for you is high too.)
I especially liked WK's last reason. I just hope he found what he went looking for in time. Sorry if my general post to both of you ruins your filtering strategy in some way. But thanks for the explanations.

I say we get an option to have the list shown or not.

I've been getting the feeling that we're in sync or something.

I've just installed a minor update that adds detailed thread information at the top of each message page. By default the information is hidden, just click the little down-pointing triangle to the right of the context line, click again to rehide the information. The information is about the thread originator, list of participants, and thread details like the origination date and number of posts. I'll be adding more thread details as I think of useful ones, suggestions welcome.
A user preference will be made available soon to set the visibility on or off by default. Please post problems/issues to this thread.

I try to attach hover text to things that require explanation, and that's the case here.

The display of thread details is now under user control. Thread details are displayed at the top of each message page by default. You can toggle them on and off with the little control arrow on the right side of the context line. The context line is the one that begins "Evc Forum => etc...".
You can change the default display of these details to be off through your profile page. The "Profile" link is on the left of the row of links on the top of each page. Click on this link, then go to the bottom of the Member Preferences section and next to Thread Details Default select "No", then click on the "Submit Modifications" button. Thread details will now no longer be displayed by default.
