Hello Percy ...
Thanks for EvC. AdminPercy writes: If you see a "Query error" message, please report it here and include a cut-n-paste of both the "Query error" and the "Query string" that appears after it. Thanks!
The screencap below depicts the page that currently rears its ugly head when I attempt to attach my present sig to this, or any other, post. There is a brief mention of this in Admin signatures, etc ... (Message 34 of the thread Thread Reopen Requests 2 within the Suggestions and Questions forum), as well.
Also, do you still need a hand editing graphics and images, and if so, what ones are in need modifying and/or recreation? Happy to help, if need be. Thanks again ... One Love

Thanks for this. I can't tell if this is another another piece of the puzzle emerging, or a new problem. It looks like you might have provided enough information for me to reproduce this problem. I'm breaking for lunch now but will come back to this in an hour or so and see what I can figure out
About images and do I need help, the answer is yes, I sure do! Your email isn't public but as Admin I can see it anyway. Is it okay if I send you an email? Or do you use Skype, their chat capability would be better.

Huntard, Bailey, Asgara, Everyone,
There was a bug affecting signatures that included single quotes somewhere in the text. Not only would such messages fail to post, but it would cause the Last Reply field to be improperly updated when the very next message was posted. I hope I have fixed this problem, but please post here if you see the problem again, and thanks for your help. I couldn't have identified the cause of the problem without you.

Part 1:
The error documented in message 46 seems to be the same problem that was happening when I tried to post with my "signature" displayed. The same message would post fine if the "signature" box was unchecked. That problem seems to be fixed now. BUT, I now note that the links in the "signature" are all still in the old format. Note that the Report Technical Problems Here: No. 1Report Discussion Problems Here: No. 2 Thread Reopen Requests Considerations of topic promotions from the "Proposed New Topics" forum links all result in getting to the " Welcome, Visitors! (No new topics or messages) Windsor castle" topic. Part 2: Yesterday I did an ID merger and a suspension of davidmabus11. The "davidmabus" ID was the new registration and the ID kept as active. When I did the merger, I kept all the attributes of the new registration EXCEPT that I set the status to that of the older ID. At the older topic things seem OK - He is designated a "suspended junior member". But at the newer topic he is listed as "unregistered". I did the ID merger first, then the suspension. Part 3: Also, please see the 7/9/09 changes - How do you link to a specific message? topic. I thought that it was a question that deserved its own topic. It really helps moderators figure out if a topic is disintegrating because of general misbehavior versus someone in particular if the originally non-misbehaving members kept it that way. When everyone is prickly and argumentative and off-topic and personal then it's just too difficult to tell. We have neither infinite time to untie the Gordian knot, nor the wisdom of Solomon. There used to be a comedian who presented his ideas for a better world, and one of them was to arm everyone on the highway with little rubber dart guns. Every time you see a driver doing something stupid, you fire a little dart at his car. When a state trooper sees someone driving down the highway with a bunch of darts all over his car he pulls him over for being an idiot. Please make it easy to tell you apart from the idiots. Hi Moose!
About the signature, I edited your signature to use the new dBCodes. You can switch it back to user the URL dBCode, but now things point to the right places. I couldn't find the thread for reporting technical problems. I'll look into the merge problem. Thanks for finding this, that code is complex. About old links that reference the old thread numbers, they'll no longer work because all the thread ID numbers changed. Used to be that thread IDs were only unique within a forum, now they're unique across the whole board. I've been remiss in not mentioning the new dBCodes: MID, TID, and FID. They take arguments of the message, thread or forum ID, e.g., [MID=51473] would give you Message 22. The old dBCodes will still work, but you have to use the new thread IDs. All URLs in old messages that used the old approach (e.g., ending with, for example, f=7&t=156&m=4) were updated automatically during the installation, except apparently not in signatures, an oversight. I'm sorry I couldn't figure out a way to have the old "link to message" style work. Edited by Admin, : Grammar.

Look at the image below. I think it's pretty self explanatory.
Added by edit. Apparently, the same thing just happened with this thread as well. Basically, every time I post a message, the thing says I have replies even though I don't have any. Taz writes: Look at the image below. I think it's pretty self explanatory. Well, yeah, it sure is. You're using IE! What do you expect! Sorry, long day. There is so much I haven't had time to explain, and I apologize for that. I'll explain this one now. The "Replies" column now indicates that there is at least one response to one of your messages in the thread that you haven't yet replied to. It used to only indicate if there was a response to your last message. There were a lot of requests to improve this because sometimes people would respond to some other message than your last one. If you look through all your messages in that thread (Click on the "Taz Posts Only" link to make this easy) you'll find that at least one of your messages has "no" listed under the "You have responded?" column of the "Replies to this message" list. If you click on the "no" it will change to "noted". Once all the messages you haven't responded to are listed as "noted" then the "Yes" under the "Replies" column of the "All Topic" page will go away. The intention is to give you a button you can click to mark all messages in a thread as responded to, but I haven't had time to implement it yet.

Hi Peg,
I'm pretty sure it was a bug, and thank you very much for reporting the problem. I couldn't be sure if your problem was caused by the same bug that was causing a couple similar problems, but if the problem is really fixed now then it sounds like it was. I'm a lone developer with more software than I can test by myself, and it's a really big help when people are willing to report problems.

Ever since the move, I've noticed that a lot of messages have non-letter characters (like apostrophes and quotation marks) replaced with jibberish symbols (like like ’ and “).
Message 121, from Anglagard's topic on fundamentalism, is one example of this. Are other people seeing the jibberish characters too? Or, is it just me? (I use IE) -Bluejay (a.k.a. Mantis, Thylacosmilus) Darwin loves you.

Ever since the move, I've noticed that a lot of messages have non-letter characters (like apostrophes and quotation marks) replaced with jibberish symbols (like like ’ and “). My impression is that this situation was equally prevalent prior to the recent software upgrade. Quite a while ago, I commented on this somewhere, probably as some sort of side comment. My impression (and I think it's a quality impression) is that these odd symbols started showing up after the forums most recent move to a new server. I know I've seen older messages of my own, that contain these odd symbols. I know they were not in the message when I initially posted it (unlike apparently some members, I do look at my messages after posting). I wonder if, when the server change was made, some files got lost or corrupted? Or something like that. Hi, Moose.
Minnemooseus writes: My impression is that this situation was equally prevalent prior to the recent software upgrade. Yeah, I saw them earlier, too. They didn't seem all that common before, though, so I didn't think it was important then. -Bluejay (a.k.a. Mantis, Thylacosmilus) Darwin loves you.
