Re: Is there a dendrochronology thread?
you can start here:
Age Correlations and an Old Earth: Version 1 No 3 (formerly Part III)
Notice the issue is not just the annual rings and the 14C calibrations, but the correlations with other systems other known events. Why do two tree species on opposite sides of the earth have the same annual climate patterns, some of them known historically, at the same times by both rings and 14C?
And the varves mentioned are NOT Mt St Helens, but Lake Suigetsu in Japan. They too show climate patterns.
Enjoy.

I mentioned the varves or micro-layers of Mt St Helens to demonstrate that they can form rapidly.

Well you didn't demonstrate that varves can form rapidly. Annual varves fo the form found in Lake Suigetsu include a season-related colour change. That doesn't apply to the layers found at Mt. Saint Helens, does it ? And what are these layers at Mt Saint Helens ? Ash layers ?
And isn't this just another attempt to pass off dating correlations as one big coincidence ?
It's just one more example of creationists trying to dismiss the evidence, without really dealing with it.

Then your whole model fails as it requires such rates to produce the moutains in a post flood world. This leads me to believe you do not understand the concepts here. Without rate, the moutains cannot form in such time periods. With that rate, massive heat is produced, enough to vaporize the oceans and quite possibily melt the crust into a sea of lava.
How do you deal with the fact that the author of runaway subduction model has admitted his theory does not work without miracles?

varves versus reality
I mentioned the varves or micro-layers of Mt St Helens to demonstrate that they can form rapidly.
sigh.

I interupt this astute discussion of {Heat Calculations for Post-Flood Plate Movements} to bring you this off-topic announcement:
Do NOT respond to this post.
Respond to the reply posted HERE
I can't help but notice that you failed to attempt to discuss the tree ring information, ...
... or the in fact annual varve layers of Lake Suigetsu (which are formed by an entirely different process than the micro-layers of Mt St Helen), ...
... prefering to restate your straw man position that is unrelated to actual dating methods actually used by actual scientists.
You were directed to Age Correlations and an Old Earth: Version 1 No 3 (formerly Part III) to discuss this issue, not to continue equivocating here.
From Age Correlations and an Old Earth: Version 1 No 3 (formerly Part III)
quote:
... the minimum age of the earth is:
  • 8,000 years by annual tree rings from Bristlecone pine in California.
  • 10,000 years by annual tree rings from Oaks in Europe (different environment and location)
  • 45,000 years by annual varve layers of diatoms in Lake Suigetsu, Japan (different biology and location)
  • ... corroborated by Carbon 14 (C-14) radiometric dating (limit 50,000 years by half life)

And that is just for starters.
Continued discussion of this is off-topic on this thread - I just mention it to show that you are avoiding the evidence and denying the results that invalidate your position.
I also notice that YOU asked if there was a dendrochronology thread, and now you are avoiding addressing the issue YOU raised.
Go to Age Correlations and an Old Earth: Version 1 No 3 (formerly Part III) and Message 49 to reply.
Do NOT respond to this post.
Respond to the reply posted HERE
I now return you to the regular programed discussion of heat calculations ...

AFTER you address the issue of the actual age of the earth - and the evidence for it - on the above linked thread, THEN we can return here and discuss what is left of your position.
Enjoy.
