We've recently had a couple new members posting written material from other people as if it were their own. EvC Forum takes a very dim view of such behavior. There is probably no more sure path to permanent suspension than persistent plagiarism.

Can you suggest what I should tell our new members when I suspend them (as I expect will happen, either that or they'll disappear) and they complain that Dr. Adequate did it and got away with it. Hoping you have a good answer or at least a quick finger on the edit button...

You could just blame your actions on the idiot who designed your DNA.

Ah, intriguing. In effect this is "The devil made me do it" defense. Unfortunately it would force me to concede a point on which in my role as moderator I must remain neutral.

Tell them that it was funny.
If that doesn't work, explain to them about Original Sin.
Edited by Dr Adequate, : No reason given.

Recently, I have noticed that a few new members have been posting written material as if it were their own even though it came from other people. As with all academically inclined networks, EvC Forum does not look kindly no such behavior. There are few ways to earn a person a permanent suspension, and one sure way is persistent plagiarism.
While looking through this forum, it occured to me how an admin might tell one of these new members in question if they complain that older members such as Dr. A have done the same thing as well. One suggestion I have is to blame it on our DNA. But then it also occured to me that making such a statement, that the devil made me do it defense, by a moderator would certainly appear too unimpartial, especially for this forum. Another suggestion I have is to tell them that it's funny and perhaps even explain to them about the Origianl Sin.

The Casey Luskin version:
"We've recently had a couple new members posting written material . . EvC Forum takes a very dim view of such behavior. There is probably no more sure path to permanent suspension . . ."
More proof that evil evolutionists are squashing posters who are critical of the atheists' pet theory.
