The big bang is not on topic here but it most certainly has been observed. It was big enough to leave observable traces. The issue with the origin of life is that it may not have left any such traces. It was, pretty much by definition, on an utterly different scale.Note that an "observation" does not mean only looking at something with your unblinking eyeballs. In fact, that is one of the worst forms of observation.
