This is because the wolf is "sampling" a lot of moose who "sample" a lot of trees. Fun stuff!

Neat article... thanks Ned.
I think the next step will be more exciting.
This "clearer picture" of climate change that is now possible.
The article seemed to imply that the data that they do have from the wolves matches previous trends, but with less noise.
Got any links handy to the previous trends?
