Truth be told we are already seeing the affects of it in the nation's infrastructure its crumbling roads and vulnerable electricity grid... who is going to fix the infrastructure when people no longer believe in basic science? At least for now kids aren't getting taught 'ID' or 'creationism' useless garbage to supplement their already insane amount of material they should know.
So how has the governor's ID creationist POV impaired her huge favorable ratings of Alaskans who are so pleased with her improvement in government and other state issues, including the gas pipeline she's got going when her predecessors were undermining that?

Re: Palin With America And Americans
Palin certainly hasn't gotten the pipeline started. The contract signed with TransCanada Corp neither has the federal approval nor a requirement to actually do a damn thing. All Palin did is sign a law stating that Alaska can give away USD 500 million and the license to operate the pipeline to TCC. Further, the pipeline will cost a minimum USD 26 billion (and knowing how things almost always go over budget, it will cost more).
Her predecessors haven't exactly been undermining it, either. If you want to blame it not having been built yet (and it was looked at during the 70s oil crisis) blame Canada. And if it doesn't get built, Alaska may be out 500 million dollars, far more than what she's tried to have earmarked for Alaska. Her "gut reaction" here may well cost Alaska a huge bill later with no benefit.
As to her approval rating: it comes from a poll that is asking neither personal or job approval ratings. The difference? Bill Clinton (you probably know him as Slick Willy) had high job approval, but low personal approval ratings. Palin's rating comes from this question:"respondents were asked to rate their feelings toward public figures as very or somewhat positive or very or somewhat negative."
What the firm (Ivan Moore Research) did next was to combine the verys and somewhats. So if she had a spread like this: 10% very approve, 20% somewhat approve, 40% no opinion, 20% somwhat disapprove, 10% very disapprove, it becomes 30% approve, 40% no opinion, 30% disapprove. Which is somewhat misleading.
Ivan Moore has asked this question only in Alaska. The McCain campaing issued its own poll stating job approval ratings at 86% for Palin.
A Rasmussen polll conducted around the same time as the Ivan Moore (which showed a 76% approval rate) shows Palin having a 64% job approval rate.
More to the point--she's a republican governor in a republican state. Perhaps republicans like their own? Now Mark Warner--there was a popular governor. Democrat governor popular in VA. Hmmm.

Re: Palin With America And Americans
*shrug* who is to say it would impair a governor's ratings. Sides ratings have absolutely nothing to do with policies. Governor's ratings are contingent on a politician's ability to keep its constituents happy. If she's able to deliver pork to her people all is good, people will forgive intellectually inane positions and just view her as more then a little bit eccentric. Notably Palin did not push ID or creationism as governor which begs the question on the authenticity of her positions.
Building a gas pipe is more about building jobs and shoring up state revenues. But improving other state issues??? I mean look at the lady's ethics, pushing undue pressure on dealing with a state trooper, ex-husband to her sister?? I mean governor's are they supposed to be twisting the screws on state agencies like that over a state employee? Its a bit reminiscent of say Nixon's power abuse, at least she doesn't have control of the FBI.
However, the point isn't about her ratings, it is more about securing the future of our nation. And her educational stances leave a great deal to be desired be it ID or on sex ed. Supporting educational stances that promote keeping people ignorant is less then a stellar method look out for our future.

Re: Palin With America And Americans
It's a simple fact of matter that if you increase spending and jobs, as well as increase direct payments to your voters, you'll earn their votes. Palin increased the check that Alaskans get every year by a considerable margin and the budget has increased a full 3rd.
Palin is no fiscal conservative, neither is McCain 2008, nor is Obama or Biden.
Explain to me why we should elect someone who's belief system directly stands in the path of America's economic future.

I hope So
Is Sarah Palin serious about creationism and ID in schools?
It would be good too see some kind of positive change coming to America. I'm sick and tired of 'hoping for the hope of the change',with Obama, and all of his drones. What change? No thank you, Mr. Messiah, you can take your socialism back to Russia where that belongs.
Intelligent design should be presented as a counter-study to evolution. There's plenty of intelligence that can be seen in design, plain and simple. And that's a fact. That's why it makes so much sense, because its a fact, and it fits in with that. And if you say otherwise, I think you're as dumb as Obama. So try debating the facts, if you want to sound dumb.
I mean, if you were to look at my iPod Nano, and say there was no intelligence involved in the construction of that thing, I'd say you're off your rocke.r. I think the cel is more complex even then my iPod nano, and Steve Jobs is a pretty smart guy. And he created the iPod, just like someone created the universe. I mean, can't argue with that.
So if the iPod needed the intelligence of Steve Job, I would say that our cell needed the intelligence of and intelligence. Probbaly even smarter then Steve Joobs. And that's a fact. Almost certainly a fact.
Let's start giving our students both sides. And I always push the side of intelligence. That's why I'm all fore Sarah Palin.

Both sides? When there is is some evidence of ID then it should be taught but not while it is nothing more than a hypothesis. Which is one reason I am against Sarah Palin.
