In recognition of MLK day and inspired by Foxtrot 20-Jan-08 and the Gay marriage and the law thread.
I have a dream that a time will come when we don't need to think about anti-discrimination laws, that people won't feel the need to enforce arbitrary moral beliefs on others and understand that social laws should be a compromise based on practical secular solutions to real needs.
What is your dream?
Enjoy.

I have a dream that one day there will be a thread on this forum about homosexuality that won't lead to the discussion of moderation thread to red line and close.

Dreamscapes
I have a dream that one day I will be able to remember my dreams with regularity.

“There is something which unites magic and applied science while separating both from the 'wisdom' of earlier ages. For the wise men of old the cardinal problem had been how to conform the soul to objective reality, and the solution had been knowledge, self-discipline, and virtue. For magic and applied science alike the problem is how to subdue reality to the wishes of men: the solution is a technique; and both, in the practice of this technique, are ready to do things hitherto regarded as disgusting and impious" -C.S. Lewis

That may be more information than you want to know. Some good SciFi stories follow that theme.

Heh... Good point.
If you'll allow it, anyone want to tell me the significance of remembering and not remembering dreams?
My wife describes in detail these vivid dreams. I know I dream just as vividly, but I can't seem to recall the details. Its like when I just wake up, I'm still in dream mode, but about a minute later its gone.

why not start a new thread?

could be an interesting thread on it's own.

Nuff said.. I won't hijack your thread. Especially in honor of Dr. King.

I have a dream that one day humanity collectively will wake up and realize how close we are to shooting ourselves in the foot by rendering the planet uninhabitable for our own (and other) species; that short-sighted policies and greed leading to unsustainable exploitation will be recognized for what they are; and that the poor of the developing world will be given viable alternatives to traditional, destructive subsistance patterns - and have the wisdom to use them.

I have a dream that one day the human animal will realize our differences should draw us together, not push us apart. We are all unique in many ways and that is a thing to be treasured, not to start a war over.

I have a dream that someday every man woman and child of accountability will look to him/herself for solutions to the problems they see around them. You can start with you. Then we can start with you inventing laws that are not arbitrary, but are loved and employed by all. You will find a drug, etal, that could be given to those who arbitrarily, or just for the hell of it, decline your suggestion. By then, you have also developed a method that takes into account every Tom, Dick, and Harry who feels discrimination, which today is one thing and tomorrow is another. You will certainly need good drugs for that, or lobotomies. Until then, I'll go about my business as if I'd never read this pap.

like dr king, i think that as long as militarism continues, there will be no equality. unlike dr king, i don't believe population control is a solution to inequality. population control should always be a personal choice.

My dream is that people would be a little less defensive and less likely to take offence.
