Author | Topic: How can you identify the word of God without critical assessment of God? | |||||||||||||||||||||||

What is wrong with that? You'll have to start a new thread if you wish to discuss that.
Not sure I understand the issue. It seems all that says is "If God intended for the Bible to be some clear set of instructions, She failed." Saying God failed is critically assessing God. I posted Message 14 as an example of this. The OP asks how you could determine the word of God without critically assessing God.

So silly.
You keep asking:
The OP asks how you could determine the word of God without critically assessing God. You can simply accept without evaluating. If there are conflicts you simply compartmentalize and believe both or disbelieve both. If something arises that might create issues, you simply deny there is a problem or make up some shit to get around it. Immigration has been a problem Since 1607!

Your answer is a bit of an uneasy rigmarole. If I have deciphered it correctly I think two words could have sufficed: "I can't"?
To help you. Answers need only take the form:- i) I, can't.ii) I can, and explain how.

You wouldn't be critically assessing God. At that stage you don't know that there is a God. What you need to critically assess is the evidence.
Most people just go with the flow (do what others around them do), without any critical assessment.

Is that an "I can't" or an "I can"?

I think this is key:
Most people just go with the flow (do what others around them do), without any critical assessment. I was watching "The Root of All Evil?" by Richard Dawkins the other day and he made a poignant point. The passage of time tends to make things that are not truth truth. Just as long as enough people start saying that it is true, it becomes true and the general populous excepts it as truth. This must be so with the Bible. At its inception, it was not a widely held belief that the Bible was the word of God. There weren't many Christians to begin with. But with the passage of time, those who saw the Bible as just another book died off, and the concept of the Bible as a holy book was codified.

About John 1.1 Tesla said:
its my belief because it makes sense in the laws of the universe as i have interpreted them by observations of what is "real" But it doesn't. You just got finished saying earlier:
"in the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word and God were one" by this question: how do you speak without a mouth? The obvious answer, based on observation of what is 'real', is that one doesn't. No mouth, no speech. Your awareness of this reality is what led you to ask the question in the first place. The statement does not 'makes sense in the laws of the universe.' It thus does not meet your own stated criterion for belief in it as the word of God. You may safely move on now to the next book.

Is that an "I can't" or an "I can"?
Clearly it was neither. I have made my critical assessment of the evidence. But I won't post the conclusions because I prefer to keep my religious views private.

Your initial question is "How can you identify the word of God without critical assessment of God?"
In Message 17 I tried to answer that. The answer is that you simply accept what you want to believe without examining those beliefs. As I said in Message 17:
You can simply accept without evaluating. If there are conflicts you simply compartmentalize and believe both or disbelieve both. If something arises that might create issues, you simply deny there is a problem or make up some shit to get around it. The answer is "People can!" by simply accepting some desired outcome. jar, "YOU" is personal. "How can YOU do it?", not "how can other people can do?".

Thank you. One accurate post would have prevented the hassle.
I await responses from creationists.

In finding the word of God, did you critically assess God?

sinequanon writes: But choice can be random, educated, inspired etc. If it is random or educated, is it not fallible? Of course it is.
Should the person then be aware there is a possibility that their God is false? Not a possibility, but a statistical probability, given the large numbers of mutually exclusive Gods.
