Re: Both sides of bigotry
You're right. Heterosexuality, homosexuality, bestiality, bigamy, incest, fucking your stamp collection”nothing I can think of should be banned from marriage.
What part of "two consenting adults" don't you understand?
[You START the slippery slope with your demand for the right to marry....because then argument become one of : ok well we give the right to marry...based on a deviant sex act...what do we do with the next deviant sex group which stands in line for the same rights?...Point ...Set...Match!!]
Oh, why, almighty god, must people like hoot always use the slippery slope argument everytime we bring this issue up?
[Because you have open up the slides gates...and you know what always slips downhill]
The government should get out of the marriage business altogether. Just stick with civil-unions. I think the idea of civil-unions for gays has socially redeeming value.
[Again...name one thing about homosexuality that has been proven to have 1 socially redeemable value]
And I think that when gays demand that their civil unions be called "marriages" is clear evidence that they are more interested in coming out of the closet than in joining the ranks of reasonable people.
[ Correct they want to cloak a deviant sex act in respectability by calling it marriage...I agree]
And as I have explained this many times before, simply getting the legal rights is only part of the human rights issue at hand.
[Sheep-man want his rights too]
I'm an atheist. So is my wife.
[Small wonder]
Neither of us really cared about the official ceremony thing when we got married. One might ask why didn't we just move in together and automatically be married after 5 or so years of living together by the common marriage law? The answer is simple. I wanted to proclaim my love for this woman, and she wanted to proclaim her love for me. Being socially recognized is a very important factor in this issue.
[Soooo...you just proved that even an atheist can manage to do the right thing for the right reason...BRAVO!...that is akin to a blind sow finding an ear of corn...eventually anything is possible]
What you are essentially proposing is gay people ought to be having all the rights and benefits as long as they do it in the back alley and out of society's view.
[Again ...name one socially redeemable value of anything gay!...that is good for society]
Trust me, I would be pissed too if I was told that I was told to keep my relationship with my wife a quiet thing. I would be pissed even more if society refuses to recognize my relationship with my wife.
[You are a man and your wife a woman...you have all the rights in the world...there is no issue there... it is inbalanced to make an analogy in support of gay marriage by using yourself.]
So, I ask you again, what's wrong gay people getting married socially and legally?
[What is right with it?]
Why must they have to accept the bastardized version of marriage (aka civil union) and keep their ceremonies in the back alley while us straights can boast about our sex lives every chance we get?
[They can celebrate whatever ...whenever...about whatsoever...but if you cloak one deviant sex act in respectability...you must ...by those same rights open the door to all the rest...and if you don't then the homosexual lobby will be called the bigots and justifiably so... if you don't see that ...it is because you don't want to]

Re: Both sides of bigotry
Boy...you quote a Nazi...WOW... so what is your beef with God? What perceived injustice do you believe was wrought by the hand of God...that turned you against Him!

The "straw man" in your view doesn't count as a person with rights?

Re: Botrh sides of bigotry
My position has absolutely NOTHING to do with threats...perceived or real... if one deviant sex act is cloaked in the respectability ...the progenitors of all of the other...deviant sex... have every right to ask for the same thing...and if the gays deny the "Sheep-men" of tis world their right to marry...won't the gays be the haters and bigots?
