no reason to lie A four year old?! lol, they don't need a reason. some happen to be very creative and figuring out truth from fiction is hard for the parents (from experience) and I'm not sure the kid knows sometimes.

oh and by the way the kid did die , even the doctors and parents agree on that one! or was he lying about that?
(at 3 i dont think i could even say Jesus, let alone come up with an nde that fits in with the other hundreds of cases)

When talking about spirituality Jesus said "If you were blind, then you would not be guilty" John chapter9, verse 41. I have already said this though.
He also said those who reject me and do not accept my message have one who will judge them John chapter 12 verse 48 Jesus also said, Do not Judge others and God will not Judge You So Zephyr Christians who judge non-Christians are acting with out Gods backing I guess. Anyways going back to John Chapter 12 Jesus says that he was not sent to judge but the one who sent him would this is said around the other quote. Thats all i could find at the moment as i am not a expert on this by no means, sorry i didn't find more right now.

sorry about my sentencing lol
i was trying to say that a little boy has no need to teach about Jesus or even mention him , let alone come up with an experience which agrees whith hundreds of other cases. (is that ok teach, lol)

at 3 i dont think i could even say Jesus, let alone come up with an nde that fits in with the other hundreds of cases) Maybe, but this is very hard to control for. With what's on TV now I wouldn't trust that a kid hadn't been exposed to these ideas a number of times. I'd also be interested in the parents views and what they had ever told the kid. With what we know about this and, I'm afraid, what we can ever know this is probably just going to stay an interesing story. It just doesn't have any value as a way of coming to any conclusions in anyway at all. I know there are many for whom cute little stories or anecdotes count as "evidence" for something ( my Mom is one of those) but psychology and careful science has taught us that they are almost completely unreliable. At best a few of them are a starting point for real study, most of the time they aren't even that.

quote: Well, if his parents or anyome important to him was Christian, he most certainly would have a big reason to talk about Jesus. Kids aren't stupid. In fact, children are strongly inclined to try very very hard to please their caretakers. (Evolutionarily this makes a lot of sense, of course. The young, vulnerable offspring that the parents like because the kids try to please them are going to get more attention and protection and nurturing than an annoying, contrarian child) So, what all this means is that the child probably made up a story that fit his 'memories' about what happened which pleased his parents or fit into the cultural ideas he has been exposed to. I would also take what four year olds say with a very large grain of salt, particularly about what might have happened to them when they were three. They are still in the process of determining fantasy from reality at those ages.

fair enough i just thought it had something to do with the thread,as for the other 300 cases this doctor was talking about they can most definately not be explained away so easily, as they were adults.and if they were all lying then i find humans more bizarre than i previously did. (for what is their gain in these stories?)would you lie to fool someone for no reason ?

You are talking about people who are suffering servere medical problems. Do you think their minds are working right? Would you take them as expert witnesses for anything?
I understand that the "white light" and tunnel thing is produced by oxygen starvation to the brain. If so that explains the commonality of the stories. We need to understand that what we remember is not what happened anytime. It is a construction of our mind made and remade when we "recall" something. Under the conditions described and with the beliefs built into our culture I would expect some interesting stories but they don't constitute much in the way of evidence for anything.

however how can you remember something from when you are dead?the brain hallucinating is also a bit silly to me as i seen a case (was televised in the east ) of a man who came back to life after being dead for 24 hours, thousands were praying for him to come to life and eventually he did. also i remember how blue and cold he looked ,it took him ages to recooperate cos he was so stiff(not sexual innuendo lol)must go that ones put me in tears on the floor lol lol!!!!!!!!!

however how can you remember something from when you are dead? Your brain doesn't stop right when you die; it keeps working for some time before brain tissue dies. So, whatever experience he had didn't really happen when he was dead; it happened right when he died. There was still enough brain to remember the dream, as it were. When the brain is shut off from the outside world, time becomes subjective. Haven't you had dreams that seemed to span hours or days, but when you woke up you discovered you had only dreamed for 10 minutes? So no matter how long the events the boy described seemed to take, they all could have happened in seconds of real time.

quote: Gee, mike, don't you think if this was a true story that it would have made worldwide front page headlines or something? How come I couldn't find anything about it when I did a Google search? What show did you see this report on, anyway? Sheesh, do you believe ANY outlandish story as long as it supports your preferred belief? Talk about credulous.

If it actually did happen it may have been covered up just like anything else that might cause Kaos or at least have the potentual too. UFO believers could tell you thier stories and all the cover-ups that go with it. What I am trying to say is don't rule it out so swiftly schrafinator, you don't know the truth, you weren't there.
Anyway I've heard more outlandish stories in supposed evolution facts.

I think her point was that if you can't find anything about it on the internet, of all places, then not only did it probably not happen, but there aren't that many people who believe it did happen.
Anyway I've heard more outlandish stories in supposed evolution facts. Do tell. (In a new thread, please.)
