Sure,
When discussing potential mechanisms for the global flood of Noah, there are several common answers given by creationists. One is the so-called 'firmament argument' whereby all the water was released from a heavenly vault during the flood. Aside from the obvious question as to why God put this huge vault of water above our heads to begin with, many creationists don't like this mythical explanation (why this one is more troubling than the others, I cannot say!). The other explanation is that the waters broke forth from below the earth (the fountains of the deep) as given in the book of Genesis. Creationist Walt Brown is perhaps the leading proponent of the fountain story (with his Hydroplate hypothesis). Walt basically claims that there was a layer of liquid water perfectly trapped at the base of the lithosphere. When God commanded the flood, faults ruptured the water storage area below (why this storage area is any less fantastic than a heavenly vault, I can't say) and the fountains broke forth. So, the finding described in the OP (a huge "wet mantle" beneath Asia) will be seized as a an explanation for the flood.
The problem is, as I discuss, the water is tied up in the mineral stucture rather than a huge lake as envisioned by Brown.
