Some suggestions
I know they've been made elsewhere but some positive suggestions could be made too.
Newbies, shouldn't post at all for at least a few days (I went about a month before I did).
Newbies, shouldn't post more than 2 topics to start with. If those spawn more then they can follow those too.
No one should open new topics if they aren't able to keep up with research etc. on topics they started in the first place.

Simple?
It's all very simple. That is, if you'll accept a continous stream of "I dunno" as the answer. And, of course, never will know or try to know. What could be simpler than that?

Interesting Point
Mike t W, I wouldn't expect you to be convinced by one such point however "interesting". However, there are a huge number of such "interesting points". It is the sum of them all that is overwhelmingly convincing. These are across a number of areas of science.
