The issue is whether Gods presence supercedes our own right to pick and choose our acknowledgement.
So, did God give us free will or did He just lend it to us?
Are we expected to give it up when we face Him?

My answer might be, "Let me look around first and I'll decide if I want to stay."
If we do have free will, the issue is not so much "Why should God sell us His product?" as "Why should we buy it?"

Don't confuse taking a long time to make a decision with "wishy washiness". Important decisions should not be made hastily and plans should be as flexible as possible.
...and indicates that we already have made a decision.
What's wrong with deciding not to decide?
I was at a friend's house for supper and her ten-year-old grandson asked me what I wanted for dessert. I told him to surprize me, so he surprized me with Cool Whip on a cracker.
Being overly decisive takes the fun out of life. Do you think that's what God wants from us?

Choosing the right Deity could be viewed as important by some....
And yet the ones who think it is important often have the most lame-brained "reasons" for their choice. We see it here all the time: somebody who "knows" that the Judeo-Christian god is the right choice but displays the most abject ignorance of any other viewpoint. Some fundies are particularly militant in their ignorance of Islam, for example.
What if you make your decision for Yahweh and then find yourself standing before a God who's wearing a turban and saying, "You can call me Al"?

God has the ability to be in control of everything, I would assume...yet he clearly is not.
Ah, the Bart Simpson defense: "I could do that, but I don't wanna."
How do you tell the difference between a god who doesn't do eveything and a god who can't do anything?
I would say that every move I make is done either in communion with Him or in communion with the other spirits.
So, if god doesn't do everything, mightn't I be better off going with one of the other spirits? Maybe one of them can do more than god does do.

Re: What would I say? And why would I say it?
First, let me demolish your analogy.
Phat writes:
Our day is one vast game of musical chairs.
A few salient points about the game:
  1. All chairs/gods are equal. As long as you get one, you win the round.
  2. Every round, somebody loses, gets kicked out of the game/heaven.
  3. In the end, there is only one winner. Everybody else is doomed/damned.
And last but not least:
  1. There are no "decisions" being made. It's a life-or-death struggle for resources.
If we compare musical gods to musical chairs, choosing the "right" god would seem to be dependent on reaction time. The sole occupant of a chair/heaven would be a teenage video-gamer and hell would be standing-room only.
So, I'm not thrilled to pieces about the musical chairs analogy.
And it doesn't even attempt answer my question: Why wouldn't I choose a god who does something instead of one who doesn't?
